The pastor character played by David A.R. is a wreck. He makes men of God look like complete dorks; seems tired and agitated when someone needs help or counseling (come on!) and just can't and shouldn't be taken seriously. The movie seems to be thrown together in a hurry to address real issues but in a corny, upper middle class unrealistic way. If these characters are Christians, who would want to be one? The Japanese/ Chinese character (not sure which) is a little stereotyped, as is the African? gentleman mentor. Folks, if you're going to depict true Christian life, you're going to have to do better than this! The Newsboys are pretty much themselves and a nice retreat from the corny acting. I am a born-again bible believing Holy Spirit filled man of God who's been through it, I'm active in the ministry, and have been on the road with evangelists and musicians and in some terrible places where people are so hungry for God they're like little birds with their mouths open hoping for food. I've seen God do some amazing things and ran with those who are not afraid to be disciples of Christ, even unto death. So this movie is rather embarrassing to me when I think about how others might see believers through this lens. Like I said, great job on the first movie God's not dead, although even it was definitely centered in the privileged middle class of suburbanite mega-church goers and paints a somewhat diluted picture of the walk with God. Maybe I'm being too critical but if you're going to spend all of this money and time on evangelizing, you might want to step outside of your Lexus and then sell it. Drive an old-beater pickup truck and rub elbows with the downtrodden and desperate. It just panders to conservative Americans that don't know what it's like outside of a christian mindset. I understand the themes this movie is going for, but the judicial system is not that antagonistic. Plus the "christian investigators'" giving their testimony with talking in circles...I'm not impressed film...Oh, let's give some down points for terrible lyrics, shameless & unsubtle product placement, pandering symbolism, the Pureflix producer as a main B-Plot character that has no flaws except when the plot demands it, Chinese stereotypes, all the antagonists are old and depressed looking and overly antagonistic for no reason, and all the protagonists are youthful and virtuous with no flaws, and Christians really believe they are being harassed by the government?? Grow UP!
