Solid.
Great quality. Smaller than all pictures lead you to believe. I like wearing it and not scared to rough it up when I go out to the woods to shoot and ride quads.

Expensive poorly functional
What a disappointment! First, the watch kept very poor time, too slow. Seemed like every 2 days I was adjusting the time. Also, its sticks up very high on your wrist and is quite heavy. There is no florescent light, as other watches have when you go from light to dark, you must be in complete darkness befor the tritium lights up. And to top it off, mine stopped working after two weeks. Isn't is supposed to be rugged?Obviously, something came loose internally. Having no mail service internationally where I reside, I am stuck with a $900 broken watch I cannot return. My Reactor is on it's 6 year keeps time perfectly, lights up right when I come inside and converts to tritium glow easily in complete darkness at a third the price. Here I am stuck with a broken watch I cannot replace, thanks Marathon!

Poor quality, deceptive marketing
I own a similar watch - the Pilot watch, which is over $300. It lasted for one battery life. The battery changing process is complex and fragile and requires a professional watch maker - not what you would expect since 1) marathon doesn't openly tell you that, 2) it's a military field watch so soldiers shouldn't be expected to find a watch repair guy in the midst of a battlefield. Inexplicably the watch won't tick after receiving a new battery, there are several small pieces to deal w/ in replacing the battery, it's very easy to break, and the luminescent capsule fell off the 12 o'clock position after a gentle knock far less intense than would be had in field use and is now freely floating around the watch face. It's a piece of c--p, don't be taken in by the overt military marketing. You are being duped and you will lose your investment.

Light and accuracy
I like small watch and this one is unique in Diver category. Easy to read, light weight and very accurate +2s/day...amazing.

After some research and apprehension I decided to go for the Marathon medium gsr automatic. I have had numerous watches in my time ranging from Ali Express specials to Swiss luxury. I was looking for something for work that can take a beating and I could use no matter what light source I had due to working nights and sometimes been outside. I do prefer automatic movement but was willing to look at quartz as well. The most doubt I had for the watch was its size. At 36mm it was smaller than most of mine and on first opening the box I thought this will be going back. However after just 2 hours of wear I had become used to the size and with the clear legible dial could tell the time at a glance. The accuracy of the watch astounded me. I have a timing machine and it was showing +2 secs a day well within coscc limits, it did suddenly gain time alot which after experiencing before rightly guessed it was magnatized. Demagnatized and back to the same accuracy. The tritium tubes I had come across before on my Ball watch, these are not for show but purely functional, if there is light they don't glow, if there is no light they glow. In conclusion if you are looking for a watch to pull you compliments and be an extended piece of jewellery this is not the watch for you, if however you want to know what the time is no matter where you are and what your light source is, I recommend it

Excellent watch. Works well, the tritium is fantastic. The rubber strap works well. You punch out each hole as needed from preset holes in the band, which gives it a very clean look, as mine only has the one hole in it. Apparently it has a vanilla scent, but I can't smell, so can't comment on that. The movement has an excellent power reserve, and if I take it off on a friday, will still tick on sunday. The crown is easy to use, has good grip, and feels very secure when you screw it down. The 36mm size wears well, I had worried it was going to feel small. Overall an excellent watch, that has been on my wrist almost every day for a couple months now, since it was purchased.

My Marathon Medium Automatic Diver came in a typical Marathon watch box that looks like there was a pen set in there! But, I found out from watch forums and YouTube is that is normal. The watch came with absolutely no papers. The watch also did not come with any plastic stickies on the crystal and case back which is abnormal as all new watches I had purchased over the years all had plastic stickies to protect the crystal and case back from being scratched up. My major issue with the watch was that there was a major blemish on the brush case on the crown-side bottom lug which should not have made it pass QA/QC. However, the movement does keep excellent time at -2.5 seconds per day over the last two days which is within COSC specifications of +6/-4 seconds per day. See photo for the "defective" finish on my watch case. To wrap up, I am happy with the accuracy, robust design and military spec for this watch, but I am less than impressed with the blemish on the watch case. I suspect that the watch was either a reject by one of Marathon's client or a returned item from a customer. The ad did not say "New with Tag" , but it did not say that it was a "returned or pre-owned item" or has cosmetic imperfection either! So, buyer beware! I will decide in the next day or two if I return the watch to Amazon for a replacement unit.
