Spigen Tough Armor [Extreme Protection Tech] Designed for iPhone 13 Case (2021) - Black

These Spigen Tough Armor cases have become my default protection for any new iPhone for maybe a decade now. I have lost count of exactly how many that I’ve been through thus far, but I believe that this one makes number four or five. I’ve been totally satisfied with these cases for years and even tried other Spigen cases, but these are always the ones that I return to. I found that their “clear” cases still end up yellowing over time, albeit just a bit slower than most. Their Liquid Air case just doesn’t feel as tough, whereas these have multiple layers plus hard plastic in addition to the TPU. They also are stylish and don’t just look like you’re protecting your phone for battle! I really don’t have anything negative to say, but I will warn you to not abuse the kickstand. If you take care of this case, it will undoubtedly take care of you. My last phone even slipped out of my pocket hitting the nasty concrete restroom floor at a MLB ballpark; and although the Spigen glass screen protector (get one of those too!) took a hit, the case got a bit scratched, but it saved the phone! For $18, that’s a great value! The same goes for their glass screen protectors that go for around $19/two pack last time I purchased them. Moving on, there are so many great features specific to this case. For one, installing them usually takes only seconds. They fit like a glove and feel engineered particularly for the phone that you’re using. Even with the multiple layers that go into protecting your device, the Tough Armor case somehow doesn’t add excessive bulk or weight to your phone. It’s definitely tough, but as I mentioned before, they’re also stylish. This is because they’re cleanly designed, and use excellent combinations of both materials and color. I purchased the Navy Blue option for my iPhone 13 in “Midnight.” It’s actually my first non-red iPhone since probably the iPhone 4s, but the combo looks fantastic! Overall, if you need a tough and reliable case, just buy it, you really can’t go wrong! I’d also recommend getting Spigen’s glass screen protectors to go with as they are the easiest to apply in my opinion. They also have worked very well for me thus far. Finally, you should invest in glass protection for your camera lenses, but Spigen does not have a current offering for the iPhone 13. Just look for the kind that are round and goes over the lens itself as opposed to the large glass variety that covers the entire camera assembly. The latter easily break, but I’ve never had an issue with the glass covers that go over each lens. All together, you should not have to worry about breaking your phone! I’ve been going this route for about a decade and haven’t broke one yet!

PROS: Solid protection CONS: Kickstand is good, though it feels like it could be a touch more robust. Does it's job though so happy with it. IMPROVEMENTS: 1. Would be nice if there was an integrated lens cover for the camera lenses. They are protected from immediate damage since the case stands above the lenses recessing. 2. I have the same case for a different phone (Android S23 Ultra), were another reviewer painted the various textures around the phone in a contrasting color (yellow for a green case). I really liked the accent coloring, and want to do the same thing for my own (both this and that case). Would be very nice if there was an option to purchase with that already done. *3. Textured Power Button, and Volume Controls. There are minor textures to the buttons, but would like that texture and/or definition from the rest of the case to be a "touch" more pronounced. *This is the one reason for the 4/5 stars. The subtle struggle to find the power button in the dark or when scrabbling for the phone, means I ultimately have to pay more overt attention to the device, since when grabbing it, I want to know I have it in the correct orientation. Having that textured power button would help immensely with that.

Now THIS is a good quality case. It was so easy to pop up but stays on sturdy! Glad the other reviews lead me to order it. It also has a little lip that does help with screen protection but I got a protector on it as well. The little hole in the back is cute if you have a different colored phone.

This is the 3rd Spigen Tough Armor I’ve purchased. First was iPhone 4, and 2nd was iPhone 6s that I had for nearly seven years. I’ve dropped the phone as much as any normal person would and never had any damage. The Spigen phone case fits securely, and the buttons are well placed and surperb fit. This case review is for an iPhone 13 and does not include MagSafe. When I purchased an iPhone 13 (not iPhone 13 Pro), I also purchased a pretty MagSafe case that fit poorly and Belkin MagSafe car vent mount. I found the magnet with the MagSafe case was so strong that it pulled on the phone so much when removing it from the mount that it pulled out the vent mount. For a combined cost of nearly $100, I returned the MagSafe case and MagSafe Belkin car vent mount. They were overkill for what I was looking for which was a secure way to place my phone within easy sight when driving. I affixed a 2” by 1.5“ flat magnet inside my case to use with the magnetized vent mount. I’ve done a fair amount of research on the safety of this and determined a magnet in my case will not damage my iPhone or its camera. Personally, I don’t use MagSafe charging features. I’m old school and am fine using cables near my bed which I have already invested in. Two of the features of the Spigen that I really like are the opening at the back that allows someone to see I’ve placed a note on the phone to indicate a reward for return and my contact info. I think most people would be interested in returning a lost phone if they know who to contact. The new feature of having a “kickstand” is a plus since I travel on planes quite a bit and watch videos when the in flight entertainment doesn’t work. This unsolicited, unpaid recommendation for the Spigen Tough Armor iPhone 13 is for those who are looking for a very secure and well-made case which is not MagSafe.

Last used the tough armour case about 5 years ago. This version feels sturdier, more durable, and has a really nice feel in the hand. Please spigen don’t ever discontinue the tough armour series, I’m recommending this to all my friends.
