Adhesion is strong even on metal, however due to outdoor elements, it'll eventually not adhere. Has worked for several years on lights I have them on vs using screws that come with solar lights. It doesn't come with a suction cup and there are no suction cup adapters. So I use this VHB (Very High Bond) squares to temporarily install the dashcam in the rental cars. Just one square is enough even though it doesn't completely cover the base of the dashcam (well, the GPS unit of the dashcam). The 1"x1" is strong enough to hold the dashcam for as long as needed (done in Hawaii and Arizona so far), and it a bit difficult but impossible to remove at the end of the rental periodIt's thinner and smaller that the VHB tape that came with the dashcam from the factory, but it gets the job done. To a degree the fact that it's smaller is actually good - it's almost impossible to remove the factory-size tape from the dashcam. This smaller square is more manageable.Anyway, it works for my need.
