It just pushed the dust around. I wasn't impressed with any of the three products I purchased. **Q: How do you clean the dusting mitt?** A: After each dusting i "brush" the mitt - I purchased on Amazon: 2 Pack Dog Grooming Brush, Premium Pet Bath Brush with Adjustable Ring Handle for Bathing - Massaging -Hair Removal - on Wet or Dry Hair , for Long Short Haired Dogs and Cats It works great - then once a month or so I wil put the mitt in the washing machine with other Norwex products - I usually wash these by themselves - I use a tiny amount of white vinegar but this is what I found on the internet: Norwex cloths can be washed with lint-free laundry in your washing machine, but it's better to wash them by themselves. You can use regular laundry detergent, but do not use bleach or fabric softener in the wash. For better results, use the coldest setting possible. **Q: Does this work on fabric lamp shades?** A: Those dust mitts are really astonishing but you might do better with a can of compressed air when dusting off fabric lampshades.. **Q: can product be used with furniture polish?** A: If you just want this kitten to be a regular dusting cloth I suppose it could but then you would lose the whole purpose of owning a Norwex cloth. These cloths use water only and cannot be washed in regular detergent, just plain water or special Norwex detergent.
