Most were understandable for him with a little guidance, and a few were more advanced, which stretched him in a good way. He was able to complete most of the puzzles independently, and the trickier ones turned into fun opportunities to work together. For children younger than 5, it would likely be too advanced, but for 5-8 year olds it’s spot on. A great way to keep kids thinking and learning during school breaks. The book is divided into sections, spacial reasoning, math puzzles, logic problems, word games, focus activities, two-player games and answers. I would say that the first few pages of each section could be done by a six year old, possibly with some guidance, but challenging enough to make them fun and interesting. The puzzles gradually get harder so possibly if your child is six it would be a book that he/she grows into. Some of the drawings are not clear as to which animal is which so maybe a page giving each one a name would be helpful for the younger ones. Also be aware that American spelling is used for example colour is spelled color so the spelling games may need to be checked by an adult. On the whole it looks as though it’s a good buy. It’s a fun way for children to learn to think logically and work things out. 4 stars because of American spellings and unclear diagrams, the skunk or is it a cat, badger -or is it a fox, are anyone’s guess. I haven’t tried the puzzles yet so maybe there isn’t a cat or fox. Anyway as said earlier a page at the beginning introducing the characters would clear any confusion up. Also answers are given, but an explanation as to why that is the answer would be useful.
