Easy To Set Up, Works Great, Great Value
We bought this to replace a 20+ year old version, one that lasted two houses and mountings. This edition uses AA batteries in both transmitter and receiver, so maybe less frequent changes needed in the transmitter. The old one needed batteries about every 15 months, so hopefully the new one with bigger batteries will go longer. Is two years a stretch? I'll find out! The display is easy to read, good contrast and big enough to read easily from 8+ feet away in her office. Setup is easy, as the pieces self-pair as you install batteries. Then set the Time & Date, confirm your units preference on ºF or ºC. Hang the transmitter outside where the sun and rain won't hit it. Success! Works great, she's happy, and if this one lasts the same 20+ years as the last one, it's more than just a "great" value.

Lots of info on an easy-to-read screen with large size text
We've had this since October 2025 and it is great. The screen is a good size and the info on the display is large and easy to read. We love that it displays the day of the week, date, and time along with weather data (temp and humidity) for inside and outside. The forecast feature is okay, it just shows a picture of what the weather will be like the next day, no temp info for the forecast but that's not a big deal to us.

Don't need WALL mounting, BACKLIT display, or ATOMIC clock? Try this handy BATTERY-POWERED model.
PROS: After scarcely more than a month of my close scrutiny, this weather station’s manual-set (NOT “atomic”) clock continues to keep satisfactorily accurate time [UPDATE: By TWELVE months later, the displayed time had very gradually fallen behind by a total of about 40 seconds -- whereupon I just easily and quickly RESET the MINUTES]. Connectivity with, and accuracy of, the outdoor remote are excellent. Compared with a couple of my most reliable benchmark-caliber thermometers/hygrometers, accuracy of this La Crosse Technology main (indoor) unit’s built-in thermometer is excellent (a mere 2 to 3 tenths of a degree Fahrenheit low). Stylishness, compactness, and much more. [Read my below discussion.] CONS: The main (indoor) unit’s built-in hygrometer is slightly variable: sometimes it's perfectly spot-on, but generally it ranges from around 1 to 4 percentage points low — which, admittedly, isn't too unusual for a retail product of this sort. Incorporating a manual-set clock, this model doesn’t include “atomic clock” capability. It likewise lacks “daylight-saving time” capability (hence most users will be manually resetting the hour semiannually). Also be aware that this model’s structurally integrated stand absolutely precludes WALL mounting. Prior to my recent purchase, I’d been coveting this particular small, monochrome weather station model for quite some time. I specifically wanted to install this unit upon the topmost shelf of my kitchen pantry, where this model’s slightly darkish, non-backlit screen could look its best via judicious placement near a bright ceiling-light fixture. Together with its excellently accurate remote sensor (to wirelessly display “outdoor” temperature and humidity) and its onscreen air-pressure “tendency” arrows and varying weather-forecast icons (impressively accurate via the main unit’s built-in barometer and pertinent algorithms), this La Crosse Technology Model 308-1415FCT provides the following types of information: DAY OF THE WEEK. By the way, it’s extra nice that the day of the week is fully spelled out. [By contrast, the majority of competing AcuRite models neglect to display ANY day-of-the-week data.] MONTH AND DATE. INDOOR-HUMIDITY “COMFORT-LEVEL METER.” Note: Whereas some competing weather station models' analogous "comfort meters" nonsensically abruptly switch from a "good" to a "dry" rating whenever the humidity drops from 40% to 39%, this La Crosse Technology model's meter is more nuanced insofar as its pointer moves "incrementally" within the middle ("COMFORT") section of the meter. “DECIMAL-POINT” NUMBERS for more accurate readings of indoor temperature and outdoor temperature. [By contrast, some other models display only “whole-number” temperature readings.] CONCLUSION: Perhaps La Crosse Technology should’ve included “atomic clock” and “daylight-saving time” capability. And perhaps they could’ve implemented a SLIGHTLY less darkish screen that wouldn’t require quite as much ambient lighting for optimal viewing. Still (with that said), if you’re wanting a basic, reliable, battery-powered weather station, and if none of the aforementioned “cons” are deal breakers for you, I can unreservedly recommend this La Crosse Technology model 308-1415FCT. I’m relishing this little weather station and am anticipating many more years of gratification with it appealingly perched atop my pantry shelf. * * * P.S.: Don’t let my (and/or certain other customer reviewers’) foregoing words regarding this display’s supposed “screen darkness” give you an altogether incorrect impression; moreover, don’t be intimidated by any of the particular photo images shown on Amazon’s pertinent product pages. As an experiment, I’ve temporarily placed my actual specimen of this product upon my home office’s oversize walk-in closet’s upper shelf (about 66 inches above floor level), along with several other of my clock collection’s (numerous) monochrome-screen weather stations, including four competing models by AcuRite and one other model by La Crosse Technology. And in actuality, with the benefit of that small room’s typically bright, centrally located, 8-feet-high-ceiling light fixture, not only does this La Crosse Technology model 308-1415FCT display look no darker than any of those other typical monochrome models, but it’s even a bit LESS dark than certain popular models, including my specimen of AcuRite’s [brightly photographed?!] model 00829, which I’ve placed closely adjacently. Or, to give yet another comparison, I see essentially zero difference in the level of “darkness” of this La Crosse Technology model 308-1415FCT display and that of the La Crosse Technology model 308-1417 [evidently not nearly so “brightly photographed” as the aforementioned AcuRite model]. Bottom line: The vast majority of decent MONOCHROME displays’ screens can sometimes look — unsurprisingly — comparably “darkish.” But your satisfaction with any non-backlit monochrome display will likely largely depend on the amount of reasonably nearby and optimally directed ambient lighting — be the light source “natural” or “artificial.”

La Crosse Technology makes the best indoor/outdoor thermometer products
I have been using La Crosse Technology products since I lived in Wisconsin twenty years ago; and I have been totally satisfied with each of the several that I have purchased. (I have broken several units - stupidly it seems.) This unit replaces one that got dropped/crushed while I was moving. The outdoor sensing units have been improved over the years; and each unit I have had has worked very well. (I do wish they would move their manufacturing back to the USA - USA manufactured products are just better than imports.)

Sadly it's junk
The whole point of installing a sensor like this is to get an accurate read of outside temperature and humidity. Even sitting inside in a temperature controlled environment the humidity sensor is off by 7-8% points. The temperature is OK but it gets worse once it's put outside. Here where I live we are having our part of the season where we have cold humid nights. This sensor, at low temperatures in the 30s and 40s, can't accurately read humidity. Despite it being over 70% humidity outside the sensor can't read higher than 55%, using last night's data as an example. This obviously makes the sensor of much less value. At least for me what I really wanted was a good read of humidity near the house. But not only is it way off even in ideal conditions it's even further off as soon as the conditions are just a little bit more challenging.
