Will buy more as Xmas gifts for my sleepy friend and family! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It does a good but not amazing job of filtering out sediment *by X***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2017* It does a good but not amazing job of filtering out sediment. I suggest not tapping out the grounds and it squeezing the sides of the mesh ever.To remove grounds, shake it into the trash and then rinse the remaining grounds into the drain.I don't really wash it but once every couple of days, because it's constantly in a rotation of brewing coffee. No issues with this method. Just have clean hands when you touch it.To brew coffee:- 64 oz mason jar- 11 level tablespoons of coffee- Generous shaking of salt in the grounds - counters the bitterness taste sense of the tongue- Run filtered water in a gentle stream through the grounds and filter and salt until the jar is maximally full less a fingernail's width (so a bit more than the 64 oz line)Using a grind that's just shy of the most coarse grind on a store grinder, I get sediment as shown in my pics. The only way to be sediment-free is to use a sock filter and I consider that to be too high maintenance. The sediment doesn't get in your cup at all - just don't slosh the jar around, and leave about a centimeter of coffee at the end and discard it (my overfilling is to account for this waste).So overall this does the job it's supposed to. Just brew properly and be very gentle, not squeezing, tapping, or scrubbing hard.- For cleaning, I coat it with some suds and gently stroke it with a scouring brush.- Coffee is Cameron's medium Nicaragua roast from Costco ground in store.- Dark roast coffee is not necessary, and it's not absolutely mandatory to use a coarse grind - I've used McDonald's light breakfast blend. Taste like Iced Espresso Latte! *by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2019* Okay, this was the first time I have made Cold Brew Coffee. It turned out so good! We typically drink pour over coffee using a Hario and we grind our Starbucks House Blend Medium Roast Beans. It's been good, but with the weather getting hot I have been craving iced coffee. So, I ordered this cold brew basket, I ground up a little over 1 1/2 Cups of course coffee, put it in the basket and filled the 64oz jar with filtered water. I let it sit on the counter for 15 hours. I ended up with an iced cold brew coffee that tasted as if I went to Starbucks and ordered an iced vanilla latte! I used Davinci vanilla syrup and whole organic milk and no joke it taste just like espresso coffee. The next brew batch, I am using 2 cups of ground coffee for a more concentrated coffee. We buy the 40oz Starbucks beans from Sam's. I found the basket to be just fine for this purpose and it even came with a silicone ring to go around the top edge of the basket. I also bought a lid with a flip cap for the wide mouth jar and it works beautifully to pour the coffee with.
