EMPIRE OF SILENCE

Reading this sci-fi has been the next favourite thing daily after taking care of baby. The flow of writing and the details takes us to the exact scene. I have started with the second part of the series. This book is a treat for those who like sci-fi genres.

The book is not as good as howling dark and demon in white but builds the foundation beautifully and the end is surprisingly good though the middle was slow it pick up well at the end . The book was in perfect condition tho the cover was bent from the corners and had creases on spine and cover. Nothing major but not a proper packaging.

Honestly for first 300 pages it was an average read for me. But I pressed on because of glorious reviews for the entire series. And after first 350 pages this book doesn't leave you. A page turner

The world building is heavily inspired from Dune, but that’s ok. What matters the most is the story and this is where the novel falters. May be I am a bit impatient reader and didn’t like the slow pace with which the story unfolds which is unidimensional in the first place. Further, at one point, I started wondering is this story about Hadrian, the hero or his observations and thoughts about Valka, which occupy more than half of the novel.

Character driven story in a rich world/universe. A breath of fresh air with a lot of familiar sci-fy tropes. Enjoyed this first book enough to dive into the series.

It was interesting being able to get an insight into a mind that thinks so deeply. The main character writing this autobiography is pretty honest about his own flaws .I have never read of a male personality such as this one. Hadrian is someone who is capable of well intentioned cruelty. He is also a book worm who frequently quotes his favorite authors and many people take potshots at him for this . This includes his own condescending love interest. The one thing that seemed one sided though was how religiously fanatical the entirety of mankind has been made out to be. A sobering picture of what may happen perhaps if we ever allowed dissent and debate to disappear in the real world. All 3 books in this series have been amazing so far.

I love this series and am actually reading the Ashes of Man right now. This first book although not the best book in the Sun eater is still good. It just keeps getting better in each book. Thoroughly recommend this series.

EMPIRE OF SILENCE is One of the most amazing reading experiences of my life. It’s so good that I’m tempted to read it again before starting book 2. Defining or containing the story of the life of Hadrian Marlowe to a single genre fails to do the story justice and fails to give due credit to Mr Ruocchio. It’s Uber epic hard core sci-fi mixed with high fantasy that effortlessly rolls of the tongue of the reader, glides off the screen of your kindle, and runs off the page of your paperback. The writing itself is a work of art. Easily matching the quality of Rothfuss (NAME OF THE WIND), watching H Marlowe rise, fall, and rise again, and even struggle to exist, is something you will never forget. Characters come and go. Some get sacrificed, we don’t know if they live or die. It’s not unusual either to find yourself emotional at a given turn of events. And To be completely honest, it must be said, the story chugs a bit in the first half. You might be tempted to give up then. Don’t. Please. Don’t. Technology as a character doesn’t play a major role in EOS. There’s an Easter egg to Star Wars in the finale and even Mr Ruocchio has compared the life of his main character to that of Anakin Skywalker at a pivotal moment of his life. But this ain’t no Star Wars story. That’s like comparing an ant hill to the Grand Canyon. Mankind’s enemies are the Celcien and they are portrayed as evil incarnate by those in power and in control of the lives of the masses. But by the books end you will be in a position to see the forest for trees and see humanity for what it is. So THE SILENT EMPIRE is a truly great story, taking us an expedition that will teach the reader what it means to be human. It rises above genre classification and sits with aplomb in the company of the greats of pure literature. What more needs to be said? Absolutely nothing.

This writer has the amazing ability to foreshadow and tease in such delicious ways. Misdirection, but not in painful ways. A very complex and interesting main character. The world building is excellent and it keeps opening up as the story expands. I look forward to the next chapter.

it was meant to be the start of something really big. so i have been patient trough the 30 so chapters of melodramma and pity than becomes faster around chapter 50/60 . i'm curious for the other books.
