Volume 5 collects the final arc of Rosa's masterwork, The Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck. Scrooge's long sought triumph to achieve his fortune is justly bittersweet and a marvel to read. Rosa's detailed style lends to multiple readings. Often you'll catch details missed on the first go. Volume 6 and the Universal Solvent has more of the artist's love of exploring a crazy concept to it's funniest ends.

Another wonderful entry in the collection of Don Rosa work. I understand all stories are being chronologically as they were first published around the world, but I am modestly disappointed the Life and Times of Scrooge could not be collected together. Still, it is wonderful to have such a nice collection of these stories. Rosa's duck stories are great and I love the intricate art-work that is not present in so many duck stories by others.

Donald Duck and his uncle Scrooge McDuck are two of my favorite comic characters. These books have them in some interesting adventures and contain a bunch of laughs. Very enjoyable.

This is possibly the best comic adventure strip ever written! Totally absorbing. In addition, although Barks is the "good" duck artist and story-teller, Rosa stands on his shoulders! This is a substantial package, but more economical than buying the two volumes separately. Nicely printed and bound. With the box, the books should last many years.

More of the same greatness that comes with everyone of these books. My ownly complaint would be one of the volumes contains stories from an out of print collection I already own! To no fault of the comic and a great addition to anyone who missed it.

Ahh......the duck stories of Don Rosa. A worthy successor to Carl Barks legacy.

Dieser Schuber macht genau da weiter, wo die letzten beiden Schuber aufgehört haben. Er deckt ungefähr die Zeit 1993 bis 1995 ab, wobei "An Eye for Detail" erst 1997 veröffentlicht wurde. In Volume 5 sind aus dem Band "Sein Leben, seine Milliarden" die Kapitel 8 ("The King of the Klondike"), 9 ("The Billionaire of Dismal Downs"), 10 ("The Invader of Fort Duckburg"), 11 ("The Empire-Builder from Calisota") und 12 ("The Richest Duck in the world") abgedruckt. Ausserdem finden sich darin die Geschichten "Guardians of the Lost Library" und "From Duckburg to Lillehammer" sowie der abgedruckte Stammbaum der Ducks. In Band 6 sind die nachfolgenden Geschichten abgedruckt: "The Duck who never was" "The Treasury of Croesus" "The Universal Solvent" "An Eye for Detail" "The Lost Charts of Columbus" "The Incredible Shrinking Tightwad" "Hearts of the Yukon" Der Schuber ist erneut großartig gefertigt, der Druck toll und das Zusatzmaterial wieder üppig (alleine in Band 5 gibt es von Seite 151 - Seite 184 "Behind the Scenes"-Material wie Erklärungen zu den Comics, zusätzlich noch einige Coverseiten. In Band 6 gibt es gar 41 Seiten, die für "Behind the Scenes"-Material vorgesehen wurden.) Top bei dem Preis. Wer die Rosa-Geschichten in englisch lesen will, hat nun 6 Bände zur Verfügung, weitere folgen - ich kann die "Don Rosa Library" nur wärmstens jedem empfehlen, der die Geschichten im "Originalton" lesen will. Vor allem, da in den kommenden Jahren die weiteren Bände veröffentlicht und so in voraussichtlich 10 Bänden alle Disney-Comics von Don Rosa auf englisch abgedruckt werden sollen. 5 Sterne für eine tadellose Umsetzung in einer ansprechenden Größe mit toller Kolorierung zu einem günstigen Preis.

I used to read Donald Duck when I was little and I bought these volumes to see if I can remember the stories. Or if I get the same pleasure re-reading them. Quality paper, good stories, color drawings. The nice surprise inside was the last part of the volume where are some "foot notes" from the author, explanations about the background work or spoilers of hidden Easter eggs. A perfect collectible for the grown ups who grew with these comic strips.

Desde o primeiro encontro com a obra de Don Rosa, ainda sem saber quem era o autor, gostei e fiquei fã. Depois de ler outras histórias, não houve dúvidas, ele é um grande seguidor de Carl Barks, tanto nos enredos inteligentes e criativos, como nos desenhos, meticulosos e que valem a pena observar em separado, tamanha a quantidade de detalhes. Minha única crítica é ao tratamento que Tio Patinhas dá a Donald nas histórias, que considero violento demais.
