A sucker for apricots, apricot jam, and apricot tea since childhood, I bought this tea based on the very positive reviews here, but whatever I came to expect as a result of these reviews, I cannot find.When I opened the bag for the very first time, my sense of smell was confronted with a pleasant, albeit very strong, bouquet of fragrances. While I could certainly pick up on the apricot, the other fragrances weren't quite as easy to pick out, and the overwhelming impression was one of sweetness (that is, sugary, not cute or pleasant). Standing about four feet away when I opened the bag, my wife reacted quite differently and asked bluntly, "What is that?! That's so such a strong smell... It seems artificial - is it?"Sure enough, this tea is prepared using natural *and* artificial flavors, along with black tea and apple - but there no apricot. That artificial flavor was used is far from obvious; other than on the label on the bag (which is hard to read on Amazon's web site), it does not appear anywhere in the product description. To be sure, a few reviews do make mention of this fact but, again, its absence from the product description seems, quite frankly, wrong. (The flavor bouquet, which initially was rather pleasant, now strikes me as sickly sweet.)As I prepared to drink the tea for the first time, I fully expected I'd be able to taste the apricot - alas, this was not to be. There's some flavor or other in there, and it's not unpleasant, but it isn't apricot.I've had five cups of this "apricot tea" now, and think that that'll suffice for a taste test.
