Review: Wonderful self study introduction into modern electronics. - Ordered this kit a few weeks ago, finally found time to open it up and take a look. I previously bought the 2nd edition of the Platt book, and was just about to order the kits for that book. And then, the third edition came out! I figured if I was going to get the new book, I might as well get the parts kit for it! All of the parts come in a single plastic double sided storage tote, and, except for a few minor items, contains all of the parts needed for the projects in the book, including an Arduino board. Everything in the tote is labeled, and the smaller parts are in labeled zip-lock baggies, making it very easy to find the parts needed for a build. It's wonderful that ProTechTrader put these together for the book - save time and money not having to hunt down all the components by hand, especially considering there are very few local electronics stores left. I'm just starting through the book, and so far everything needed for the experiments are in the kit. I had a basic electronics course back in high school, and I'm using this kit as a refresher, and a chance to learn more "modern" electronics. While that course was heavy on formulas and calculations, this set is more of a hands on approach, with just enough formulas and theory to understand the topics. So far, it's been a fun journey working with the book and the kit. For me it will likely take about six months to work through all the material at the pace I'm going. I've worked with Arduino boards before, however, have not done much with additional electronics with them - can't wait! There are a couple things I recommend for this kit though. First, I would get a good pair of wire cutters / strippers - will come in very handy. And second - make sure all of the latches on the tote are properly latched before picking it up! I found that having an additional parts box to put components in while I working with them comes in handy. Overall, the combination of a suburb book combined with this well designed and stock kit makes an impressive introduction to modern electronics, and an even better refresher course.

**Q: how many projects can you do with kit 1 economy?**
A: The ProTechTrader Make: Electronics 3rd Ed Kit 1 actually has all of the electronic components and parts to complete the first 14 experiments, (of the 30 in the full book) covering the first 3 sections of the latest edition of Make: Electronics by Charles Platt.   We worked with the author directly to have the perfect components for the electronic projects to work as he designed them.

**Q: Does kit 2 have all required items for section 4 and 5?  or does it assume you purchased kit 1 and have some items already.**
A: The ProTechTrader Make: Electronics Third Edition Kits we make for Charles' Platt book does include all of the required basic components for all of the experiments in all 5 sections of the book.    As you asked they are split into 2 kits for your convenience in purchasing and the Kit 2 does build upon Kit 1 meaning a few of the electronic components are reused to complete the experiments in Section 4 and Section 5.   We also offer an Ultimate Kit 1 & 2 Deluxe Bundle with a Carrying Case that includes some of the common tools and upgraded components as suggested by author Charles Platt in the book.

**Q: Which of the versions contain all the necessery chips?**
A: Kit 1 has all of the necessary components to complete sections 1-3 in the 3rd edition of the book while Kit 2 has all the components required to complete sections 4-5. So Kit 2 will have all of the integrated circuit chips as they are introduced in section 4.

**Q: Are there any kits for make: more electronics, the sequel to the 1st book, needing more ic's and others?**
A: We do not make any kits for the Make: More Electronics book at this time. However, it is something we are working towards. If you would like to send us a message, we may be able to help arrange certain components.

The book is great - this is my third Make: book, the others being Make:Rockets and Make:High Power Rockets. I bought the book and kit to learn electronics, as many high power rockets are dual-deployed using electronics to separate the rocket and to fire the ejection charge. What I especially like is that I don’t have to go to multiple sources to find the parts to follow the book- they’re all there! The case is sturdy and portable, and the book is well written and easy to follow. Highly recommend.
