Then use Continuum Flora-Viv Reconstitute RO to replace essential minerals removed during purification and create a mineral composition common to river habitats. Next buffer the water, as needed, with Flora-Viv KH+ to stabilize the pH by increasing the alkalinity to the desired value for the species of fish you are keeping. For Discus, this is recommended to be 1.7 to 3.0 dKH (German degrees of carbonate hardness or Karbonathaerte) or 30 to 55 ppm. For general freshwater species, you should increase the alkalinity to twice that value. A word about resin filtration. Some products tell you to regenerate resins with chlorine bleach. If you are keeping discus or soft water fish, don’t do it. It can easily kill your fish.
