I really didn't want to carry anything larger and this tabletop size tripod is every bit as good as you would expect from Manfrotto. The materials and construction are solid. The legs are a really strong plastic and the ball mechanism is metal. The rubber tip feet on the legs is also a nice touch for smooth surfaces. The legs have enough resistance to keep them steady in any position and the ball joint locking mechanism is simple to swivel into position but solid once locked. No wobble or shakes, brilliant for night photography and compact enough to slip into a coat pocket.
