The vinyl is awesome; the download not so much.

This album plays nice and clean. It sounds so good on vinyl. Some of the best stoner metal out there. Heavy riffs with trippy sound effects are paired with driving, garage style vocals. This record comes with a black poly lined inner sleeve instead of just a plain paper sleeve. It seems, to me, this is a band that appreciates their vinyl fans. The Auto-Rip however is a different story. It is horrendous. Even though Come My Fanatics... comes with Electric Wizard’s debut album as a bonus, I was worried I made a mistake buying this album when listening to the download. It sounds like it was recorded in a brown paper bag. It’s flat and very compressed. The vinyl sounds so much better that I can get away with keeping a five star rating.

    The Sound of Planets Colliding

*by Z***M on Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2011*

I like to describe Electric Wizard to newcomers as the band people were only afraid Black Sabbath was in the 70's: nihilistic, occult, sometimes Satanic, and often violent lyrically. Their reason for this, however, is basically the same as Black Sabbath's: they aim to be to Rock 'n' Roll what horror movies are to cinema. I recently read an interview in which Jus Oborn stated that Heavy Metal should "scare the man in the street" (that's the British version of Joe Average). To do that, however, they had to one-up Sabbath if they wanted to be truly frightening to people in the desensitized, jaded 1990's. So that's what they did. They're heavier, meaner, louder, slower and spookier than Black Sabbath, and the results are no less than thrilling. While 2000's "Dopethrone" is usually cited as Electric Wizard's essential album, I actually consider '96's "Come My Fanatics..." to be a superior record. While there is nothing on here better than Dopethrone's "Funeralopolis", there are no dull moments like "I, the Witchfinder", which I always thought kind of got lost in the middle of itself, and not in a good way. Basically, I'm saying that this album is more consistent in quality, with a smoother flow.As far as the actual songs go, well, let me just say that this is probably the heaviest album I own out of a collection of about 500. A friend of mine told me a while ago that the band tunes their instruments down to drop b flat, and I believe it. When I listen to it, I see planets collide and stars explode in my mind's eye. Like celestial objects, this is overwhelmingly massive music. And while the lyrics are often nihilistic, there are also moments of a genuine feeling of empowerment. Just listen to Jus shout "I AM A GOD, I AM THE ONE!" on "Wizard in Black". Don't you feel like a supervillain? I do. And so should you.

Now This Is Some Heavy Metal

*by C***I on Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2015*

So heavy that it will cause a concussion at normal volume. I'm not a stoner, but I love stoner/doom metal. Heavily distorted guitars and bass, what is there not to like. Each song has some great grooving riffs except for Ivixor B Phase Inducer, that song is just a cacophonous of sounds. Wizard in Black is my favorite song on the album, brain splitting great grooving riff. The songs will just stick into your brain cell because they have literally been beaten into it. One day very shortly, I will collect all of Electric Wizard's albums. They are one of my favorite bands now.
