Aleene's Platinum Bond Adhesive Super Fabric 2 oz

The new girl scout vests and sashes are made from recycled plastic (no longer cotton) and while that may be better for the environment, it's all but impossible to get patches to stick to the new vests and sashes with just a regular iron, even on the hottest setting. We tried super glue and unfortunately that did not work. I heard good things about Aleene's Platinum Bond Adhesive Fabric Glue on different girl scout social media pages and decided to give it a try. All I can say is it's awesome and definitely works!! Patches stay on, corners don't peel off... I'm so glad we got this!!

I bought this product after reading a review where a reviewer had some technical clothing that came apart at the sealed seams. I also had a similar issue, but it wasn’t due to an errant hot water wash cycle, but just from normal wear and tear. Use this stuff sparingly because a little goes a long way. There are two caps, one is used to puncture the tube, and the other is a longer tube cap as seen from the pictures. I didn’t use the extended cap at all. I just squeezed out a very small amount and used a tooth pick to spread the glue into the fabric joints. It helps to treat the glue like paint and tape up areas that you wouldn’t want to have paint “splatter”. Another important tip is to clamp down the glued areas and wait for the glue to dry. For my “clamps” I had used a few neodymium magnets and inserted the seams in between them. I had also used a small amount of aluminum foil to cover the magnets just to keep the glue off of the magnets, just in case the glue had seeped out of the fabric joints. If used sparingly, then there shouldn’t be too much worry about the glue seepage, but just as a precaution, scraping small amounts of foil off is much easier than trying to separate a magnet that has been glued to the fabric. Clamping down the glue will create an extra strong bond. I believe those that found this glue lacking, must not have clamped down the glued areas, because the glue works great and is not at all noticeable if applied correctly.

I would have rated this 5 stars, but I took one star off because this stuff is messy. The applicator nozzle that comes with it was abit difficult to use. You have to squeeze the distributor bottle or tube really hard to get a good amount of glue out of it. Then if you sit the tube aside, while you try to prepare your crafting fabric's next section to be bonded, glue will shot out of nozzle without notice. I feel like this is very wasteful to the consumer. Other than that, this stuff is fast drying, tactful, and holds tight.

This doesn’t dry completely clear and is messy to use, but it holds way better than any other brand I’ve ever tried!

I might have used too much glue - my fault, but the ribbon I glued came off even though I waited 24 hours for it to dry. I might try again.

I bought a pair of climbing tights/leggings with seam-sealed construction, and there was a strip that was glued to cover the seam preventing snagging on rocks). After one accidental wash in hot water, parts of that seam strip became separated from the legging. I paid a considerable amount for the pants, and I had bought them while traveling and didn't have a receipt. Rather than try to return them and get another pair, I decided to try to repair them. I purchased this adhesive, and it did the trick! I had gotten some of the glue in areas that are visible, and unfortunately, you can see the glue. However, after a couple of washings, the strip is still holding tight. The leggings are made with synthetic materials (45% Nylon 34% Polyester 21% Spandex) and the glue worked just fine. It did just what I needed it to do and even exceeded my expectations.

This stuff is pretty good, I gave 4 stars because in 1 out 4 separate uses it did not adhere well. Though it could have been my fault because it was near the end of the tube and and didn’t put glue from edge to edge. It has a very strong smell so be sure you have ample ventilation when using. Be aware that it dries clear but glossy so if your using it on a visible spot, it is noticeable. I used it on the underside of couch cushions so the glossy appearance didn’t bother me. It can also get a bit messy because of the thick consistency. Really happy with the results!

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! AND DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER! This glue does not work!! It just created a hard surface, which now prevents me from finishing my project! It ruined my fabric! And the seller is not allowing for returns, they are sending me to the manufacturer. The manufacturer is unresponsive!

Wasn't very good. Messy application, was rubbery when dry. Used on a expensive jacket and ruined it. Won't use again.

I was hesitant at first because I'm scared that it will leave a harsh surface on the applied area. However, after one overnight of "curing" the residue seems to soften up and perfectly holds the bond together. The best thing is that it easily comes of the hand and does not to stick to paper which I used to clean up the work. I patched up 4 pieces of clothing in less than minutes and the holes looked like it was never there. 2 polos and 2 t shirts.

This is a holy grail product for crafts involving fabrics! Shouldn't be relied on to secure seems but is perfect for the basics
