From executive skills experts Peg Dawson and Richard Guare, the 8 ½” x 11” academic planner that has helped thousands of students in grades 6–12 is now revised and updated. It provides an all-in-one resource for keeping track of assignments and due dates while developing the crucial executive skills needed to succeed in school and beyond. Students are given the tools to get organized, manage their time, learn study strategies, create daily/weekly study plans, and stay on track. They are also guided to evaluate their own executive skills in order to target their weaknesses and capitalize on strengths. In addition to simplified planner pages, the revised edition has an improved Studying for Tests form. User-friendly features: Convenient spiral binding. Three-hole punched to fit in a binder (with a new slimmer profile). Reproducible planning forms that can be downloaded and printed for repeated use. Undated daily and monthly calendars for one academic year. Online-only User's Guide for school psychologists, educators, coaches, and parents ( www.guilford.com/work-smart-guide ). Professionals, see also the authors' Coaching Students with Executive Skills Challenges, Second Edition , and the authoritative Executive Skills in Children and Adolescents, Third Edition . Plus, for parents: Smart but Scattered, Second Edition (with a focus on 4- to 12-year-olds), and Smart but Scattered Teens . Review: Excellent Product - Excellent product. It has numerous tips and strategies. Easy to read, understand and implement Review: A serious need finally satisfied - I am an ADHD coach and purchased this planner for my 7th grade grandson and to use with my clients in my practice. My grandson's school and many others sell what is very loosely referred to as a planner (actually pages to record daily assignments) for about $5.00. In my opinion they are worthless. Last year I looked for a student planner at Office Max that would meet the needs of a young student just learning to record and plan long term assignments. I found something that I made due for $17.00. I highly recommend this planner not only for a young student with ADHD but for all youth just learning how to plan their academic and personal lives. With the recommended instruction (clearly explained in the planner) and reinforcement, this planner is an excellent and very valuable introduction to effective planning habits for all young students. Academic planning is a skill that is overlooked in upper elementary and middle school, which I think is a gross disservice to students. As with any undertaking, planning is the most important and critical first step. Thanks to the authors who efficiently satisfied a huge need.

Great guided planner for ADHD or learning to prioritize and take notes
I wasnt sure if this was an actual planner with dates and calendars or a book about how to maintain daily activities and dates ..its both! Great for a parent to use to help their child learn to prioritize and keep up with school work and other important dates and things to be done; it also does contain an actual planner, which is great for young teens to adults to use, bc it gives directions to help use it to its fullest! I dont think my middle schooler will keep it in his planner to use at school, it's big and majority of it is more like a book, but I do see it being very helpful, especially trying to teach him how to prioritize and not forget things. It has really good tips, especially if u have ADHD and have a hard time concentrating and remembering things. It has examples of how to write papers and how to take notes, etc.

Excellent resources for anyone with ADHD, not just students
This booklet is divided into 3 sections, each very helpful as standalone sections. The first provides an excellent explanation of what executive function skills are, how we use them, what it looks like if you are not strong in a skill, a self-assessment to determine which EF skills you are strong or weak in, and how to address weaknesses. The second section has tools for planning and study skills guides. The third section is made up of weekly planning sheets to fill in. You can tear them out or use them in the booklet. The first section alone is worth the price of the booklet for adults or anyone struggling with executive function skills. The explanations and tables are also useful for explaining the impact of ADHD to others who don’t understand why having ADHD “is a big deal”.

Last published 2017 so planner calendars do not go beyond 2021
I love this planner and use with many students to help them develop executive functioning skills. I gave it only 3 stars for the following reasons: I was disappointed that 1) the price has gone up 30%, and 2) it was last published in 2017. What this means is that the small annual calendars in the header that shows dates for easy reference, do not go beyond 2021! The monthly calendars students write on do not have the days numbered, which is normal and fine. Students fill them in. This makes the planner versatile over a few years, but again, not having a newer version means there's no reference for 2022! I never thought about this and now I have the five I purchased, which I will keep. But...buyer beware. I plan on contacting the authors and determining if there is a newer version.

A must have for the ADHD student
I have and have looked at SO many materials and resources about executive function. This is a must for ADHD students. Why? It is concise and manageable, which is essential for the ADHD person because they will quickly lose interest if it's too wordy. For parents who are not as versed in some of the resources out there this planner would be a good springboard for further research. I especially like the inclusion of metacognition because cause and effect is hard to understand for ADHD students. Really so happy I bought this!

It's utility.
I love that each planner is designed for each task you have. There's a planner for exams, projects, and essays. It's so useful in everyday life as a college student with demanding work load. I am able to stay on top of everything with this planner.

Our teenager absolutely loves using it!
Our teen, absolutely loves this planner! We were amazed! As 15 year old is like any other at this age... insisting they don't need help, or that a planner wasn't needed, because everything is now electronic... But ours, although reluctant at first, actually took it and after a few minutes of flipping through it, suddenly started reading through some of the tips and suggestions! Now, with two months since e-learning started, doesn't go anywhere without it! We didn't even realize it was for more than just school! Like everything, success all depends on the person and their specific needs, strengths and weaknesses. For our teen, this has helped a lot!

Book layout as you need for a student
The product itself will of course be very useful. Layout of the book is detailed and more tailored than most out there . Still would have appreciated if the (small) blemish was mentioned , it will work but would have been nice to say on the description .

Perfect Undated Planner for Students
This academic planner has it all and then some! This planner keeps me so well-organized I never miss assignments, quizzes, classes, or exams. Because of this, my marks have never been better! It contains more than most planners from templates, to questionnaires, tip sheets, worksheets, and more. I LOVE the strategies section! Everything you need in one tidy planner- daily, weekly, monthly planners to keep all your academic responsibilities and yourself, in check. This is a must-have for any student of any age, at any grade level. I wish I had this throughout my University career, but as I am now in College, this is working wonders at keeping me on track and on target. I will definitely be a return customer for future semesters and will be purchasing these for my children as well.

Used for post secondary students
I know this agenda is for high school students but I got it to use for post secondary students since I couldn’t find the equivalent. It has some really helpful things in it while my suggestion would be to update it to include tips and strategies for problem areas that take into consideration technology and the reality of social media/screens in people lives. It would also be so helpful to have this made with 18-24 post secondary students in mind as it is a big difference in terms of self-structure and the language on the questionnaire doesn’t fit and the language on the work questionnaire does not quite fit.
