Automatic Watch for Men 5-7S Collection

Love this watch - the high-beat ticking is just wonderful. The only downside I can see is that it's the 7s26 movement - which doesn't allow for hacking or hand winding of the mainspring. (Although you CAN actually back-hack the second hand). The watch is typically accurate for me within about +- 5-10 seconds per day, depending on how you store it (I find that laying it face up with the crown tilting slightly upward works best) - and that holds true even if you don't wear it for a day. According to the specs it has about 40 hours power reserve, but since I wear it almost daily, I haven't had to put that to the test. The night luminant is quite good - although not the best. I've managed to see it in the dark up to 2 hours after "charging" it under a light - although I haven't really put it to the test yet...

Pros/what I like: - beautifully textured dial - style of the hands - day/date window with colored "SAT" and "SUN" - well-polished hour markers - lume - weightless feel - proportions: slim case thickness, case diameter of 35 mm, lug-to-lug - how polished the bezel is - bi-directional adjustable day/date in the second position of the crown Cons/what I dislike: - this is more of a me problem, but since there are no numbers, I sometimes get confused with reading the time - slightly difficult to turn the crown since it is designed to almost hide away entirely in the case - I don't mind this aspect, but I definitely think the strap can be improved; it feels very light and cheap and without solid end-links or structure, it sort of morphs oddly around different parts of my wrist instead of holding shape - due to the design of the watch, the lug width and bracelet are uniquely paired to this specific watch which means there is absolutely zero customizability to swap out watch straps; you are stuck with this one forever Overall, I absolutely adore this watch. This was my first ever Seiko and first ever automatic movement. I often find myself switching day-to-day between this and my Orient Kamasu. If I want a slim feel and want something handsome with dressy dimensions, I wear this. If I want to feel something heavy on my wrist that is incredibly sporty and divey, I wear my Kamasu. However, each time I put this on, I still find myself entranced by the sleek and simple dial.

It's a Seiko. That means a quality watch that keeps time and is rugged enough for everyday use. My last one went 7 years (worn daily) until it took an unexpected hard knock. Hard enough to bruise my wrist, so it's not like the watch can't stand up to normal bumps. I probably could have gotten it repaired, but decided I wanted a new one. There are lots of different brands and models of watches, but the trusty 5 series is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Since there are so many styles to choose from, you can find one that suits you. The self winding function means never having to buy a battery, as long as you wear it often enough to keep it going. I find it lasts at least long enough that if I take it off at night it's still running the next day, so it has never been a problem. The newer clasp is nice. It doesn't come undone accidently. I wish my old one had been that way; it might be still working ifs it did. Still comes off when you want it too, but stays put. Clear back is an interesting feature, but how often do you take your watch off and look at the back of it? All in all a decent value for a watch dressy enough for suit and tie but still casual enough for the golf course.

After doing some research, I purchased my first Seiko 5 watch. This is my third one. I am incredibly enthusiastic about the entire line, especially this model. It's reminiscent of a Rolex without trying to be a Rolex. I appreciate that. I ordered the watch two days ago, and then arrived today. It's very classy without being ostentatious, and, it looks good on the wrist (thought that the only thing that I would say, and this is a personal preference thing, is that I wish it were about 5 mm wider along the face.) But in no way does that preference dilute the perfection of the watch as it stands. The combination of the shiny and brushed Stainless steel give the watch a relaxed and casual look; however, the detail on the patterns along the back wall, the jewels, and the hour and minute hands are all the main focus points of the watch and give it a regal feel. Once you put it on, you can tell it is quality and will last for quite some time. I would recommend this watch to anyone looking to have a nice watch without going bankrupt.

Keeps 20 seconds slow per 24 hours. Very accurate for the price point. Very satisfied with the swiftness of the delivery, and my new Seiko 5 is beautiful.

I bought this watch a few months ago and gave it a good initial review. However, after a month I had problems with the watch. When I would take it off for the night, it would stop running in a few hours. I contacted the seller and they responded with that I should wear it 24 hours and that is how automatic watches are supposed to work. Rhis is baloney. Who wears a watch 24 X 7 ? The sellers in my view are dishonest and did not claim responsibility for a defective product. BUYER BEWARE? I will never buy this watch at least from this dealer.

It is not water resistant to 100 meters as advertised on Amazon. It is good to 30 meters which is generally taken to mean: Splashes won't ruin it but submerging it will. I have not tried wearing it in the shower and don't want to take the risk. Also, if your wrist is not humongous you will either need a jeweler to remover links or you will need to order a tool to remove them.

Really nice men's watch. Friend really likes it, replacement for similar watch that needed repair after 30 yrs wearing.

Nice watch very light and high quality the only problem is has a small face not what my husband usually wears but does the job.

Loopt ongeveer 1 seconde per dag achter. Dat is voor een mechanisch horloge niet slecht, maar het betekent wel dat je het horloge elke twee of drie maanden gelijk moet zetten (afhankelijk van hoe accuraat je wilt zijn). De vraag is natuurlijk hoe lang dit horloge het volhoudt. Gezien de prijs verwacht ik niet langer dan 10 jaar met dit horloge te kunnen doen. Update: na ruim twee jaar loopt dit horloge elke dag een half uur te snel. Volstrekt waardeloos dus.

Initial review. Feels solid built, the days are in English and japanese, nice dial. Ordered Thursday afternoon and arrived Monday morning in Amazon shopper -> bubble wrap -> 1st Seiko box -> 2nd Seiko box.
