I took them to my gun shop to be installed in my Ruger SR9. When they were done installing them the guy had an odd look on his face. His first words to me were, "You're not going to be happy with this." The front sight is made of aluminum which wouldn't be a bad thing if it were anodized black. It turns out that the piece is painted black. The gunsmith used a nylon punch to tap the sight into position and the paint chipped off. I purchased the sights thru Ruger's web site because I got a 20% off deal for buying a new SR9. I called Ruger and explained what had happened and the lady I spoke with said I could send them back and that they would forward them on to Williams so they can send me another set. I told her that was unacceptable because the sights are cheaply made and would very likely chip again. At this point I asked to speak to her manager. She placed me on hold for a few minutes and when she returned she said that they would refund my money and that I can keep the sights.Another aspect of the sights I do not like is how long the rear sight is and how tall both pieces rest on the gun. I can't even place the gun back in it's box because of the size of these sights. I doubt the gun will even fit in the holster I have on order they're so tall. If you're looking for a set of aftermarket sights for your gun I cannot recommend these. They are WAY too expensive for how cheaply they are made.EDIT: After taking the gun back to have the stock sights reinstalled I got to take a closer look at the Williams sights. It turns out that the finish isn't paint after all. At least as far as I can tell. What initially looked like chipped paint turned out to be raised BURRS! The gunsmith tapped the sights out in the opposite direction that he installed them and the sights now have a raised burr on both sides. How soft does aluminum have to be to have a nylon punch tool raise a burr that easily?
