I did have to assemble it which took a bit of time but not really a problem if you think about it. It is sturdy and quite well made, it will live inside over the winters but outside all summer. All the metal is powder coated (I think) the plastic/rubber tub bit has some give in it so it should not split like with a hard plastic.
