The odor is not offensive to my pretty sensitive nose, and it does not smell like any nail polish or glue I've ever used. Let it dry for about 15 minutes before playing. Start playing but do not go to the point of you finger tips getting to sore. "I stress not to over play." You may need to play every other day for the same amount of time, until you notice that your finger tips are not getting sore and are starting to build natural calluses. You will see after playing how your finger tips will start to look white. Also try not to have your fret hand soak in a lot of moisture during this time. Example: washing the car, dishes etc... I have played guitar for years and used this product just the way I am describing it after not being able to play for awhile due to an injury.
