The screw hole in my light has a separator and I only tried the silver double ended screw and it would not fit because the separator acted like a wall and the screws on the adapter was not long enough. There were no instructions that came with my holder so I don't know if it ever came with one or if I had gotten a return (doesn't look used but the box is ripped) so I didn't realize there were two different adapters-the silver one and the black one. Basically, if your light has a separator like mine (see first pic), then you need the black adapter piece. Loosen it up and fit it over the separator, tighten and the attach the bendable holder. I'm so glad I figured it out before I actually dropped off the return and I was able to cancel it. Once I figured out which attachment to use, it was pretty easy to get the rest of it set up. The part that holds the phone is pretty tight so I'm sure my phone won't fall out halfway through the recording process.
