It enables me to use 2 batteries (1 of them is my outboard cranking battery) instead of three to run a 24 volt trolling motor on my small flat boat. 3 batteries would have added too much weight. I would have given it 5 stars but due to an issue with some Motor Guide troll motors the Trollbridge 24 will not automatically send 24 volts to the trolling motor. I had to install a switch to the yellow wire and connect it to 12 volts and when it’s time to use the troll motor I have to flip the switch. Then on the ride back to the landing I flip the switch again and the outboard charges both batteries. Using combiner 100 to get outboard power to first trolling motor battery. Then use this trollbridge24 to combine two large trolling batteries when not using trolling motor. When I turn on 24 v trolling motor it switches automatically to series giving me 24 volts. Combiner 100 can still charge trolling battery 1 and when trolling motor is turned off a short delay and the two trolling batteries are combined in parallel and equalize. I've had this system for 2 seasons and it is light weight but over exceeded my expectations for on water charging. We fish a week w/o plugging in trolling for hours at night and in morning. Ski in afternoon and come home with fully charged batteries. Engineer from interstate noted I should see longer life on batteries and he had no concerns with method of combining motor start and charging. Went with 2 pro series interstate batteries that are a sitting at 12.84 volts after using hard on water for two seasons. Trolling on electric for 6-8 hours on Winnebago w/o a problem. Charges up as motoring into launch and the plug in when I get home. Also charges when moving spots or as noted if using both electric and gas to troll. Last one I don't do very often. Only when trolling into wind with suntop up and trolling back to launch. You can use 1,2,3 bank charger with combiner 100 and 3 battery set up.
