Does the Job, Almost Too Well
The glass break sensor on the Ring Home Alarm System works surprisingly well, but itโs extremely sensitive. With wooden floors, it gets triggered often by kids dropping or slamming heavy items. It detects sound great, but can cause frequent false alarms depending on your flooring.

This Addition to the Ring Alarm Family is Long Overdue
Iโve had a Ring alarm system for almost four years and the experience has been great, but my one complaint from the very beginning is they didnโt offer a glass break sensor. As anyone with any security system experience knows, this is an integral part of a complete system. After waiting impatiently for years, I was thrilled to find out they finally released one. I received it within 48 hours of ordering it and was eager to set it up and test it out. For those of you looking for specs, here they are: Detection Range: 25 feet Suggested Mounting height: 7 feet off the ground and higher Size Across: Approximately 3.75 inches Weight: Approximately 5.7 ounces Just like all the other Ring alarm sensors, it was packaged nicely and included directions, batteries and mounting screws. The set up was also just like all of their other sensors. The app guided me though the set up and even provided a video. The most difficult part for me was removing the plastic battery tab. It was stuck and I had to remove the sensor from its mounting base to get it to come lose. The sensor can be set to work in three different modes: Home, Away and it can even be set to work when the system is disarmed. Although it will detect the sound of glass breaking while the system is unarmed, it will NOT notify the central station in this mode. It does however send a notification through the app. Having it detect glass breaking while the system is unarmed requires you to turn off battery saver mode, which can be found under โMode Settingsโ. I have no idea how much faster this will deplete the batteries. Further testing will be required to determine that. For right now I decided to set mine up and just place it on top of a shelf between two windows. I set it on the very top, which was approximately 6 feet 2 inches off the floor. I then turned off battery saver mode and kept the device in view in the app. For sound detection testing purposes, I have the advantage of being a drummer. For testing I used a 15-inch Wuhan china cymbal. For those of you unfamiliar, these sound very much like breaking glass. I placed the cymbal approximately 18 feet from the glass break detector and hit it in such a way as to mimic the volume that I believe a shattering window would make (I know I know, itโs not very scientific). The detector immediately detected the sound and sent a notification through the app to my phone. SUCCESS!! Had the system been in Home or Away mode, it would have notified the central monitoring station. So clearly Iโm very happy with this product and its performance, but I do have some feedback for the Ring team: The batteries that are included are basic alkaline AAs. Every other device I have ever purchased from Ring came with lithium ions, which are known to last much longer. It seems they cheeped out a little when it comes to this sensor. For the price I paid for the glass break detector, I donโt think including lithium ions are too much to ask for. After these run out, Iโll be replacing them with Energizer lithium ions. My second suggestion would be to allow this sensor to be programmed to alert the monitoring station when the system is disarmed. A great deal of home break-ins occur during the day. Having this added layer of protection 24/7 would definitely be a serious bonus for any home owner, especially to the highly vulnerable and those living in crime ridden areas. My third and final suggestion is, it would be very helpful if Ring could somehow provide an official testing method. A certified sound clip or tool would be immensely helpful and would prevent people from resorting to random and sometimes ridiculous testing methods (such as hammering broken glass to death). For now, Iโve given this product a four-star rating. If I have any issue with it, or if Ring does any improvements to it, I will consider adjusting that rating accordingly. Lastly, I want to clear up a few misnomers about this product. Another review stated this product needs a โhubโ to work. I have absolutely no idea what they are referring to. If you have the Ring alarm base station, then this item will work with no additional item(s) needed. If this reviewer bought this without a Ring alarm base station and thought it would work, then they obviously didnโt read the description. Thatโs their fault and not the fault of this device or the Ring team. Another repeat statement I have read a lot is that these are too sensitive and false all the time. This is a glass break detector, and therefore is designed to detect sound. Yes, a very specific wavelength, but with that said, the placement of this should be well thought out. If you place this in a kitchen with a tile floor, there is a higher probability you will receive false alarms every time you clatter silverware, dishes glasses and drop anything metallic or glass on the floor. If you place this in a room with a loud stereo or surround sound system, youโre going to receive false alarms. If you place this in a music room with a drum set, youโre going to get false alarms every time someone crashes on a cymbal. This isnโt specific to the Ring glass break sensor. All glass break sensors are prone to this. Give careful consideration about the placement and the programming modes you want this to arm in. Keep in mind you can program this to only arm when the system is in Away mode. If you have more than one throughout your house, you can also program some to arm in both Home and Away mode and others to only arm when in Away mode. If your home or business in noisy 24/7, this may not be the best addition to your security system. There seems to be a lot of confusion about when this will trip the alarm and notify the central monitoring station, and when it will only send an alert to your device via the Ring app. I have already covered this, but will restate it. It can be programmed to trip the alarm and notify the central station in Home and Away modes. It can also be programmed when the system if off (not in Home or Away mode) to send a notification to your device through the Ring app. This can be done by turning off the battery saver mode, which can be found under โMode Settingsโ. Turning off the battery saver mode will NOT affect how the device performs when the system is in the Home or Away mode. I hope this review and all the additional information I have put in to it helps others to make an informed decision when it comes to this glass break sensor. As I stated earlier, Iโm happy with this item and plan to order several more to add to my security system.

Reassuring upgrade that seamlessly blends into my security setup
I recently added the Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor (2-pack) to my smart home security system, and from day one itโs been a quietly powerful addition. The installation was straightforwardโit mounted easily in the recommended position near a window without tools beyond the included adhesive strip (though screws are optional). Right out of the box it paired seamlessly with my Ring Alarm Base Station and popped up in the app with zero fuss. Setting up sensitivity and the detection zones took just minutes, and once configured it's been rock-solid. What truly impressed me is how reliable the sensor is. Instead of just detecting vibration or sound, this one monitors the characteristic shattering frequency of glassโmeaning itโs less likely to send false alarms from wind-blown branches or everyday household noises. I've tested it by tapping glasses gently and trying normal ambient window noise, and it doesnโt trigger incorrectly. When I liberally tapped a pane for testing (donโt worryโI wasnโt actually breaking anything), the sensor responded instantly and the alert came through my phone in seconds. That accuracy gives me real confidence that it will perform when it matters. Beyond the technical fidelity, the design and usability are great. The housing is compact and discreet โ it blends into window trim without drawing attention. The battery life is also excellent; weeks in, the status still shows โGoodโ and I havenโt had to mess with it at all. The alert system is solid tooโthe app notifies me and the alarm hub immediately, even when Iโm away. For peace of mind regarding ground-floor windows or second-floor ones accessible via ladder, having these sensors is an excellent layer of protection. If you use a Ring system (or are looking to build one) and want reliable detection for glass breakage without endless false positives, this sensor pack gets a full five stars from me. Itโs easy to install, highly effective, and genuinely adds meaningful security rather than being just another accessory. Highly recommended.

Reliable and Easy-to-Use Home Security Upgrade!
The Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor 2-pack is an excellent addition to my home security system. Installation was a breezeโsetting them up with the Ring app took just minutes, and they seamlessly integrated into my existing Ring Alarm setup. The sensors are incredibly sensitive yet accurate. They easily detect the sound of glass breaking while avoiding false alarms from other household noises, giving me peace of mind without unnecessary disruptions. I tested them after installation, and they performed flawlessly. I also appreciate the compact design, which allows them to blend discreetly into any room. The battery life seems excellent so far, and with two sensors in the pack, I was able to cover multiple areas of my home effectively. For anyone invested in the Ring ecosystem or looking to enhance their home security, these glass break sensors are a must-have. They provide reliable protection, are easy to use, and are a great value for the price. Highly recommended!

This worksโผ๏ธ โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
The glass break sensor I ceiling mounted in the living room has functioned as designed twice. Once when my wife accidentally knocked over a glass vase (it did not break) while vacuuming and once days later when she dropped a ceramic bowl and it broke. Both instances were within 6 feet of the sensor. The first time the system was not armed but we were sent a notification. The second time the system was armed and it went into alarm activated ๐จ๐INSTANTLY, and notified us. Glad to know these work. Iโm ordering more to cover the rest of our house.

These provide so much extra "insurance" and assurance when/if needed
We originally thought these glass breakage sensors had to be physically placed on each window/glass pane. But, when we had an installer setup the whole alarm/camera system, we learned they were only needed as one per room, since it operates on the sound of glass breakage rather than the vibration. I am mentioning this to help others, since we actually bought more than we needed. The installer mounted each glass breakage sensor in the center of each room on the ceiling. Of course, we haven't actually broken any windows or glass to test them... LOL... but, we just assume they will work based on the good reputation of Ring products. Also, as a backup, we purchased 2 panic buttons to have on opposite sides of the house... just as extra insurance.

Reliable and Easy to Install Addition to Ring Alarm! Long Battery Life.
I've integrated several of these Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensors into my home Ring alarm system, and they've been a fantastic addition, providing an extra layer of security and peace of mind. So far, they have worked flawlessly. Thankfully, I haven't had an actual break-in to test their primary function, but they integrate seamlessly with the Ring Alarm system, and testing them is straightforward. One of the standout features for me has been the battery life. I've had these installed for over a year now, and the original batteries are still going strong. That's a big plus, as frequent battery changes in multiple sensors can be a hassle. Installation was incredibly easy. You have the option to mount them on the wall or ceiling, and the process took just a few minutes per sensor. Pairing them with the Ring Alarm base station was also quick and intuitive through the Ring app. If you have a Ring Alarm system, I highly recommend adding these Glass Break Sensors, especially for rooms with multiple windows or glass doors. They are reliable, have excellent battery life, and are super easy to install.

Great addition to a Ring setup
Works very well. Thankfully never had to rely on it in a real scenario, but it has triggered a few times from dropping glass so I know it is working. Easy to test at least.

Hopefully it would work in a case of real emergency
I hope this product is reliable in a case of real emergency. Couple of times got activated by sounds not caused by sound of broken glass and got not activated when glass ware were broken ( like glass or plate). Itโs a piece of mind, not too expensive.
