Reusable Cold Pack for Hip Bursitis, Replacement Surgery and Hip Flexor Pain. Ice Pack Wrap for Inflammation, Swelling Relief (by Magic Gel)

Purchased to use immediately following hip replacement surgery. Hospital provided a pair of ice pads but they weren't adequate for covering the swollen area. The MAGIC GEL HIP ICE PACK WRAP AFTER SURGERY is large enough to cover and and reduce swelling. Because the swollen area was longer than it was wide, I removed the straps and placed the MAGIC GEL HIP ICE PACK along the side of my hip and upper thigh. It might have been important to use the straps if I was icing while walking; but I only applied the HIP ICE PACK during intervals of rest. It gets cold quickly when laid flat in the freezer. I used a frozen pizza box for stability. The GEL HIP ICE PACK stayed ice cold far longer than intermittent ice therapy required. I used it every couple of hours, but the ICE PACK was frozen and ready to use within an hour in the freezer. The cover is water resistant and easy to wipe off with a damp or wet sponge (reserved for the use). The bright purple fabric and fuschia trim made it seem more fun than therapeutic, though ice therapy after hip replacement is essential for managing discomfort and swelling. Highly recommend the MAGIC GEL HIP ICE PACK WRAP AFTER SURGERY. Haven't tried it yet but I am certain it's just the right size and shape for soothing my next bachache.

After sitting in the freezer for a few days, this was not at all pliable and difficult to put on. It needs to soften or it can be uncomfortable. I fractured my hip and the other ice packs and frozen peas just were not convenient like this. I wrap a kitchen towel over both sides to absorb the drips it creates. The kitchen towels are the perfect size. Make sure the fold faces down or this will drip on your upholstered seating. Ice pack stays cold a very long time and was still frozen after over 30 minutes. I love that I have mobility while using this. I plan to use it on my back next. It is, however, the perfect ice pack for a sore hip. There is ample length on the strap for comfortable adjustment. I also like the fact I don't have to constantly fill a bag with crushed ice over and over again. This ice pack can be frozen again for about an hour and is ready to use right away after initial use. It only needs to sit out after a day or so in the freezer to soften. This is so convenient that I believe I will find many other uses.

This ice pack has been so helpful after hip surgery. I highly recommend it. The pack forms nicely on the hip area and the large velcro straps secure it perfectly.

Bought this for recovery from hip replacement. It worked so well I bought another so I could rotate them. They stay cold for over an hour, more than enough time for 20 min on/20min off protocol. They do take about 2-3 hours to become totally frozen but can be used sooner than that. The velcro straps are ample for fitting properly and keeping it in place. The reason for -1 star is that when they are totally frozen they are a bit hard and not very pliable which can be uncomfortable on sensitive areas. They do warm up and become pliable quickly though.
