As comparison for you, my mare needs a 6 1/2 inch bit if I use one and I just measured around her nose where this flower hackamore sits and my girl is around 25-26 inches. If you google proper fit of this it should be pretty snug and it will show you where it should sit on your horses face- this is where I measured. My horse has never wore a bit, but we were starting to notice that the cross under bitless bridle he was wearing wasn't releasing well and was dulling his responsiveness as a result.
