So on your first shot, you need to pull the mechanism out, then slide it back in again, this will load the first bullet. Once you fire it, you pull it back out again, this is where you'll see the empty shell pop out, then slide it back in again to reload the next bullet. Rinse and repeat. I jammed this gun several times before being able to fire my first shot because I'm used to nerf toys where once you pull back, the trigger is ready to go. I just ended up returning because the plastic quality is not great at all. It’s pretty thin and most likely with regular use, will eventually break.
