Comfort Zone 20" Box Fan

Exactly what I wanted...an inexpensive box fan that could sit atop four 11 Merv filters (formed into a box shape...you can look up Corsi-Rosenthal Box project) to pull air up and through the filters. I'm so sick of buying the $300.00 Sharper Image air filters that break in a year...so...I built my own (no, it's not pretty, but by George it works! I don't even have to DUST anymore! ). This fan is perfectly functional for the project, with just the /right/ amount of noise (I have it in the bedroom, so it's perfect to 'sleep' to) and airflow is exactly as expected.

I got this purely as a white noise generator, and it does that very well even on the lowest setting. My house is on a trucking route and there's a stoplight about 50ft from our driveway. It's around 30ft from my bedroom window to the road. This thing isn't magic, it won't drown out house-rumbling sounds like full dump-trucks or revving motor-bikes, or super-high-pitched sounds like the squeal of a failing break pad, but it does work for about 70-80% of noise. In the summer my window AC unit does the job, so I use this in the winter. When I first got it there was also a small clicking sound as the fan rotated, and I saw there was some contact between the hub and some part of the frame. It seems to have fixed itself after running for about a day.

I use a fan year-round for white noise and air flow. This fan fills the bill nicely. Only complaint so far is with the feet. They don't click into place and fall off every time I move it.

This fan worked well while it lasted. Then it died 6 weeks after I received it. The fan has a fuse that blew and I replaced it. This did not resolve the problem. Apparently the fuse was insufficient to protect the fan from common AC fluctuations. NOTE: This was not the result of a significant power surge, such as you would use a surge protector for. I have other devices on the same circuit that are far more sensitive and they have had no issues. This problem is the result of bad design and very low quality parts. There is a reason why good fans and similar devices do not use fuses. They do not need them as their components can handle the normal fluctuations that are always present in AC current. Well made devices that are sensitive enough to be harmed by those fluctuations employ a power supply. (Wall wort or brick on the power cord.) Or they integrate power conditioning into the unit. This fan would require a UPS battery backup to be reliable. Surge protectors do not help in these situations. They are designed to protect your devices from high energy spikes that result from situations such as blown transformers or lightning strikes. Bottom line: This fan is way over priced and completely unreliable. I will probably go back to Lasko as they have always had really good fans in the past.

I got what I paid for but, It is pretty noisy on all speeds. For a noisy as it is it doesn't seem to blow all that hard. It is all plastic and seems cheaply made, time will tell how it holds up. It is ok and I am keeping it but I wish I had spent a bit more and got a better one.I gave it a generous 3 stars.

The product is not designed for india. if you are from india then you will need a voltage converter. Should have mentioned this somewhere in the product description.

Very happy with this fan. Relatively low noise. Several settings to set how much air you want to move. Great handle for carrying around. Feet could connect a little more confidently, but does the job. Would definitely recommend.

Do not buy this if you are in the UK. It is not compatible with our electricity system. It comes with a US plug and if you use an adapter, it is liable to catch fire! DANGEROUS!

Very fragile rubbish. DO NOT BUY. I ordered 1 of these already & had to send it back because it was delivered damaged. It was completely destroyed. It was very difficult to return because of its size. I spent a lot of money just going to multiple return points in a Taxi through multiple towns & they all refused to take it off my hands. I ordered a replacement & that also came damaged. Now I have to wait for 2 refunds on 2 box fans. I’m going to phone Amazon to make a formal complaint & to get them to arrange a pickup from the delivery address because I can’t return it because ALL DROP OFF POINTS WILL REFUSE TO RETURN IT TO AMAZON.

Does the trick. Worth what I paid it for it. Nothing special.
