A nerd must fight powerful spirits and aliens all vying for the secret power of his โfamily jewel,โ so who better to fight alongside him than his high school crush and a spirit granny?! Momo Ayase and Okarun are on opposite sides of the paranormal spectrum regarding what theyโll believe in and what they wonโt. Their quest to prove each other wrong leads them down a path of secret crushes and paranormal battles theyโll have to participate in to believe! Momo Ayase strikes up an unusual friendship with her schoolโs UFO fanatic, whom she nicknames โOkarunโ because he has a name that is not to be said aloud. While Momo believes in spirits, she thinks aliens are nothing but nonsense. Her new friend, meanwhile, thinks the exact opposite. To settle matters, the two set out to prove each other wrongโMomo to a UFO hotspot and Okarun to a haunted tunnel! What unfolds next is a beautiful story of young loveโฆand oddly horny aliens and spirits? Review: Aliens, Ghouls and Goofs - As someone who gravitates towards dialogue in storytellingโa habit that began in my teens with The Wheel of TimeโI often find myself glossing over non-dialogue sections unless I'm fully engaged. This has made audiobooks my go-to; otherwise, I risk missing half the fun. I was initially skeptical about manga, fearing I wouldn't really appreciate the visual storytelling. After seeing some recommendations online, I decided to dive into "Dandadan" by Yukinobu Tatsu, for my first Manga and I am very happy that I took the plunge. "Dandadan" opens with Momo Ayase, who believes in spirits, and Ken Takakura ("Okarun"), who is convinced aliens exist. After Ayase de-escalates some bullying targeted at Okarun, they strike up a conversation and place a bet involving local haunted sitesโan abandoned hospital rumored to house UFOs, and a tunnel haunted by a ghost named Turbo Granny. It turns out that both the rumors about both these locations were accurate. Despite my usual struggle with non-dialogue elements, "Dandadan" hooked me with its vivid storytelling and dynamic art. I admit I'm still learning to fully appreciate the art. I have re-read the first volume several times and I still find new things that I glossed over previously. My primary Criticism is the integration of 'adult themes.' At times, these elements feel forced, reminiscent of a teenager's exaggerated notion of maturity. The most egregious of this is the aliens attempted 'probing' of Momo Ayase. However, after the initial chapters, the content shifts towards more potty humor moments, which align better with the overall tone of the series. "Dandadan" was an excellent entry point to manga, I love the supernatural elements and the character dynamics. Despite some reservations about the explicit content, the series offers a unique blend of horror, comedy, and action. Highly recommended for those looking for something unconventional yet thoroughly entertaining. Review: DANDADAN Vol 1. - My desertcart Review - DANDADAN Vol. 1 is highly addictive! From the moment you start, you're hooked by the wild mix of supernatural action and hilarious humor. The chemistry between Momo and Ken is a blast, and the art is vibrant and full of life. The plot moves at a fast pace, with each chapter leaving you craving more. The unexpected twists keep you on the edge of your seat, and the cliffhanger at the end will have you rushing to grab the next volume! Pros: Engaging and unpredictable storyline Stunning artwork with amazing character designs Fast-paced and filled with action and humor Cons: The cliffhanger will make you need Vol. 2 immediately! Final Verdict: If you're looking for a manga thatโs both unforgetable and fun, DANDADAN Vol. 1 is an absolute must-read. Donโt miss out!

Dandadan, Vol. 1 (My Kindle Review)
This manga centers on two very different high schoolers: tough redhead Momo Ayase who believes in ghosts and quiet friendless โOkarunโ who believes in aliens. After their surprise meeting turns into a fight with each saying their myths donโt exist, they make a bet to prove each other wrong. A shocking outcome happens that not only proves both aliens and ghosts are real, but Okarunโs experience gives him ghastly ghost powers. Momo has no choice but to ask her โveryโ young-looking grandma for her spirit expertise to help get Okarunโs missing organ, and it involves confronting the Turbo Granny spirit again. It is, no doubt, a swift and engrossing manga that won me over from the first page. Thereโs a lot of exhilarating turns in the story that blends horror and fantasy, opposites attracting and plenty of ghost action. Momo and Okarunโs interactions also give us a lot of humorous moments and their chemistry is very fun to see. I canโt wait to see how the duo will deal with the supernatural and their relationship. Another binge-worthy manga, and a great read to start the new year. A (100%/Outstanding)

Extremely funny and entertaining manga
This story is really crazy and I've read a bit ahead online and now I'm really glad I got my hands on a physical. I love this series so much for its wackiness and gorgeous artwork accompanied by eye catching double spread pages, it is truly beautiful. Some of the stuff we've seen in the first chapter alone can be taken extremely out of context for funny memes, in which I compare this part to the random shit I've or you've seen in Fire Punch/Chainsaw Man (This author was an assistant under Fujimoto). It seamlessly blends action, romance, comedy, horror, slice of life, mystery, and sci-fi in the weirdest and best way possible. Just generally a fun manga overall. I'm calling it now, this series is going to be the next biggest new gen alongside the likes of other great up and coming series like Kaiju No.8 and Sakamoto Days, the potential is practically endless with this series and seems like its destined for greatness. I haven't had this much fun reading a series in a while with how much craziness happens in the manga. If anyone is reading this review and is on the edge about picking it up, then I hope I persuaded you into purchasing a copy to try to read for the first time. Its already one of my favorites.

So good!! I just started watching Dan Da Dan around last week, and I just had to get the manga. (Iโm currently now collecting 5 series of mangas ๐ญ). Anyway, I adore this series and the manga so much! It came in great condition, and looks so nice. Iโm currently reading it as I type this review. The art, style, everything, itโs perfect! Great for Dan Da Dan fans. Hoping to get the 2nd volume soon. Would highly recommend!! โค๏ธ

BIZARRE, STRANGE, WEIRDโฆ FANTASTIC!
This may have been the oddest thing Iโve ever read, and it WORKS. Firstly, Iโll say that you should trust the content warning on the cover. Some of it was definitely disturbing to look at, though again, inโฆ weird ways. Yet all that bizarre things within the story is what makes Dandadan work! We mostly follow two students in this first volume (with an introduction to a family member of some importance to the storyline as well) as they discover the freaky and unexplained. Like, they literally face both a spirit and aliens at the same time. Do I think itโs weird that the unnatural things they have faced so far were so sexually focused? Um, yes. I do. And if that might bother you, Dandadan may not be for you. But nothing is actually taken past โthe line,โ so to speak. I donโt REALLY know how to explain this well, because its strengths also make it very difficult to properly describe without straight up spoiling things, but what I will say is that Iโve never read anything like this before and I will 100% be picking up volume two as soon as I am able. And maybe thatโs exactly whatโs needed to be said.

A Gateway to Adventure and Imagination
One of the things I appreciate most about Dandadan Books is their ability to engage young readers while also captivating the hearts of adults. The stories are beautifully crafted, with richly developed characters and captivating plotlines that keep readers eagerly turning the pages. The illustrations in Dandadan Books are simply breathtaking. Each page is a work of art, filled with intricate details and vibrant colors that bring the stories to life in a truly magical way. Whether it's exploring enchanted forests, embarking on epic quests, or discovering hidden treasures, the illustrations serve as a visual feast for the imagination.

Excellent and dont appear to be seconds
New. Not seconds as far as I can see. Good printing. Straight page cuts no folds in pages. Beware though. If you order more than 1 amazon put them in same envelope and may get markd, scratched, creased or even bent to go into letterbox. Happened to me. Jammed in good n proper. Not on this occasion though so happy.
