It is good to light it up for ambience, night light or mood light. The color of the light is very cool and comfortable. You don't expect anyone to read in this light unless you are using it on the table lamp close but very very good and dramatic to fix for the purpose indicated. Consumes negligible electricity but very decorative to have.
