This author never disappoints. The pictures and the stories!

Trolls is the lastest journey into the fantastical imaginations of eminent Faerie artists and storytellers Brian and Wendy Froud. If you are unfamiliar with their work, this book is a great introduction to their expansive library. I have only just received my copy, and have only had time to explore the artwork rather than the text, but oh, what art! This is a large book, so the artwork is lush and achingly beautiful. I found myself oohing and aaahing over almost every page. The artwork features Brian's sketches and full-color paintings of trolls in their native habitats. It also blends in seamlessly Wendy's astonishing 3-dimensional figures to tell stories within stories. And that's how the text, as far as I have skimmed, compliments the artwork--by telling the story of a troll child who is on a quest to gather tales "for the asking, the giving, and the keeping." Along the way, you will be told the tales of The Troll Bride, and The Tale of Feathers: The Bad Troll, and The Tale of Stone: The Pride of Anhold Honeybag. Many stories await. This book proves to be not only a celebration of fantastical art, but also a celebration of the power of stories. Also featured in the text are insights into the customs of behaviours of the trolls themselves. If you are well-versed in the Froud's artwork, then you will find tons of new work here to keep you happy for a long time to come.

If you love Brian Froud's work (and trolls), you'll love this book. Honestly I bought it for the art inside, so I haven't read it yet. Very professionally printed and bound. The hidden troll on the front of the book under the jacket is a great bonus. You might want to plan your delivery around the weather because mine arrived in a box with air bubble packs on a very rainy day. I was fortunate my book wasn't wet. Other than that issue, no complaints about the book itself.

Trolls This is a very big magical adventure! And I mean big, once I found a way to prop this huge and amazing book up so I could comfortably and carefully turn the pages, I was hypnotically drawn deep into the Froud's world of Troll.... complete with visions, magical stories, myths and archeology, and the secrets of this other,other world. The detail and artistry is astonishing and constantly amazing....I couldn't put it down. Wendy Froud's beautiful writing, telling the tales the troll child collects, is exquisite! The Troll Bride was a particular favorite! We need more magic like this in the world! Jim Henson, who they say in the foreword had discussed the idea of Trolls as a film project years ago, would be very, very delighted.

Froud Books are the best! Seriously...I do not know anyone who doesn't love all of their books! I am so inspired by their work...I love to slowly browse through the pages. Great book for anyone who loves otherwordly!

I have been a Froud fan for years and own most of everything they have published. That being said, I waited 2 years to buy this book, because I thought it might be a little redundant. Wow, I was so wrong ! This book is all new with great new characters and an "epic " tale to go with them. It is a big beautiful book filled with Brian's fantastic art and Wendy's incredible sculptures. I love their collaboration and look forward to more books by them together. This book keeps me occupied for hours. "Thank You" to the Frouds and for sharing their world.

Gorgeous, immense table Book! Doesnt fit on any of my bookshelves so it impose itself on my table and I love it. Brian Froud had a true connection to the fairy world, you can only believe it anyway when you open those pages and grasps all the beauty of his art. Enjoy every page.
