Of course it depends on what the is made of the aluminum you are referring to. After grilling on the new grates and wanting to keep them shiny, it took quite a bit of scrubbing with a Scotch bright pad to achieve the goal. I ordered this product after reading reviews making it sound like a miracle cleaner with no scrubbing required. It is a very good grill grate cleaner, but some scrubbing is required after use. It cuts the amount of work by at least 75 percent.
