Would this also pick up automobile key fobs?

It appears to not have a battery pack. does it have to be plugged in, and if so, how can it be made mobile?

The battery is housed inside the device. To the right of the antenna theres a plug to charge (9-12VDC), it takes twelve hours to charge for the first charge. Every charge thereafter is four or six hours (double check instructions). The device is mobile. Its a good battery, I've only charged it once, I havent needed it. Maybe a handfull of places I've actually swept a specific area and ive had it for eight months. I wouldnt leave the device plugged in the wall too long after its charged, you'll decrease battery life.

Is the dd2020 dual voltage?  I want to use this in malaysia.

about the dual voltage for malaysia  I do not know, probably you need an adaptor ( the detector is with an american plug ) but about quality is good, but you know to learn how to use it, at the limit of the vibration and the limit of the soundyou will see when you got it , I got a problem with the charge , I just use another cable for  recharge and was ok
