However I was still eating what I wanted with the thought of "I'd burn it off at the gym". Some days I went to the gym other times I didn't. Couple that with a VERY stressful job and losing sleep, weight gain became real easy for this 40 something gal...the genetic trait was unlocked and hence the prediabetes diagnosis. I purchased the audiobook and have loved every minute of it! The narrator's voice is clear and captivating. The content will change your way thinking about weight loss/gain. I had already put some of his recommendations in practice and by my 3-mo followup, my doctor was giving me high five because my A1C number was below borderline diabetes. It's a challenge to undo years of dogma that we were taught. But, after listening to Dr. Fung's principles, I am no longer waiting for the food industry to tell me when or what to eat. I stumble back into old habits for short periods of dumbness, but I get back up and keep pressing forward. The weight comes back off and I feel and sleep better. Dr. Fung keeps it real and easy for a non-medical person to understand. He is not afraid to admit when he did things wrong but learned from his mistakes and wants everyone to know what he knows. I highly recommend the book or audiobook if you're diabetic (w/ all of its nasty complicarions), prediabetic or just want to be the one controlling the shape of your body!
