However, in order to be properly composted, you have to gather used cups and send to a commercial composting facility. Many states do not have these and therefore it may require you to ship cups to a facility, if they are willing to take them, and this is often at a cost. If you throw cups away, unless exposed to proper rain, sunlight, and air, they will sit in a landfill just like any run of the mill plastic cups. Next best thing is to have them incinerated, as they SHOULDN'T contain any harmful chemicals, but I can't confirm this. In the long run, if you have to get plastic, this is probably better than SOLO, but opt for paper or reusable cups. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great replacement for solo cups *by T***F on May 15, 2017* They're going to be great for my "green" wedding! They look and feel like a plastic. It's almost unbelievable that they're actually compostable. (BUT! Only compostable with a large scale company. They're solid, don't taste like anything (unlike Dixie cups), and can be composted to return to the Earth amicably.
