Review: A brilliant way to run a DJI gimbal from V-mount power - I bought this as part of my move to a V-mount power system, and it's become an essential accessory for my DJI RS 5. Rather than relying on the internal battery, I use this base plate with a SmallRig VB99 V-mount battery to provide power throughout longer filming sessions. What makes it even more useful is that I also use the same V-mount battery to power my DJI Focus Pro Grip. Being able to keep both devices running from a single battery simplifies my whole setup and means I don't have to think about swapping or charging multiple batteries during a day's filming. The plate itself is extremely well made. It mounts securely to the gimbal, everything locks together positively, and once it's fitted it feels like part of the original design rather than an aftermarket accessory. Cable management is also much tidier than I expected. Having the power source mounted directly beneath the gimbal keeps the weight nicely centred and avoids having cables trailing off to an external battery carried elsewhere. I've used it on several shoots now, and it's been completely reliable. The ability to use high-capacity V-mount batteries gives me significantly longer runtimes than the standard battery alone, which is particularly useful when filming events or longer interview sessions where stopping to recharge simply isn't convenient. If you're already using V-mount batteries as part of your filmmaking kit, this is a fantastic addition to a DJI gimbal. It integrates neatly into the setup, feels exceptionally well made, and has made powering both my RS 5 and DJI Focus Pro Grip much simpler and more convenient.
Review: Game changer (works and fit the new DJI RS5) - What a great bit of kit for your DJI RS, build quality is great as you can expect from Smallrig, it functions perfectly with my DJI RS, have it setup on my tripod with a 3/8” screw, and is very stable, it is worth every single pound I payed for it have it currently plug into a V mount battery, it is very easy to use as it is just plug and play… By the way if anyone is wondering it does work and fit the new DJI RS 5 both base and security plate. To install the security plate just remove one of the nato rails from the base and it will fit 100% to the base and the DJI RS5. Sorry for the 2nd photo as it is a bit dark.

I bought this as part of my move to a V-mount power system, and it's become an essential accessory for my DJI RS 5. Rather than relying on the internal battery, I use this base plate with a SmallRig VB99 V-mount battery to provide power throughout longer filming sessions. What makes it even more useful is that I also use the same V-mount battery to power my DJI Focus Pro Grip. The plate itself is extremely well made. What a great bit of kit for your DJI RS, build quality is great as you can expect from Smallrig, it functions perfectly with my DJI RS, have it setup on my tripod with a 3/8” screw, and is very stable, it is worth every single pound I payed for it have it currently plug into a V mount battery, it is very easy to use as it is just plug and play… By the way if anyone is wondering it does work and fit the new DJI RS 5 both base and security plate.
