What I should have bought to begin with! *by J***A on 10 April 2022* We finished our basement recently and did a home theater setup. I wasn't sure in the end where all my equipment would go so pretty early on I decided to run Cat5e for video instead of a long HDMI cord. I already had plenty of it and knew I could use an HDMI extender to achieve what I wanted. At the end of the day, this extender from OREI is probably what most people need or are looking for. It can do 4k HDR10 at 60hz with HDCP which will allow you to play anything you'd want today on something like say a Roku Ultra, which is what I'm using. I bought two other HDMI extender setups before finally coming across this one so really take the time to look at the specs when buying. The first HDMI extender I bought did not support HDCP, the second HDMI extender I bought supported HDCP, but not HDR so it wasn't until I bought this OREI unit that I got everything I wanted for my home theater setup. Installation was painless. I took a standard plastic sidemount gang box, attached it to an exposed stud in my equipment closet and then ceiling mounted the receiver unit by the projector. Whats also nice with this unit is you only need power on one end. The power from the receiver end also powers the input end where you connect your HDMI cord. Haven't took advantage of the USB-C connections yet, but thats a great bonus to have right there by all of my other equipment.
