Exactly What I Needed for Minor Changes
Since I don't intend to make a living using this puncher, it did a great job for what I neededโpunching clean holes in the strap end of an absolutely beautiful leather customized crossbody/shoulder bag from Oberon Design that I needed to shorten. The toolโthat's easy to use & takes very little strength to make a clean holeโworks like a pogo stick that goes nowhere but up & down. Plus, it's small & compact. So, it won't be in the way until I need it again. Because the end of the strap is fully enclosed between two separate pieces of metal, I needed to punch two holes of the correct size to fit over the two projections on the front metal pieceโsee those in the parts pic. After that was done & the strap end was fitted, glued, and enclosed, I needed to punch an additional hole of a different size in the larger body of the strap for adjusting its length for different needs. I did the work on a self-healing mat, using a 60mm rotary cutter for the shortening & then this punching tool for the three holes. (It took much longer to plot my strategy than it did to complete the job.) The photo showing 4 pieces contains the "original" metal end pieces, part of the strap that I cut off, & the end after the holes were punched & new end pieces were attached. As you can likely see, this is a very high-quality bag intended to last until the end of my days. (Note: no alligators were harmed to make it.) So, I didn't want to damage it with an amateurish customization. Nor did I want to involve the USPS by shipping it clear across the country to California & back or find someone local I could trust to work on it after inconveniencing someone to take it there. This solution was the fastest, least expensive & therefore the best. So, I'm awarding this tool 5 stars for helping me make it happen with the least amount of effort.

Easy to use
This punch is wonderful for book making. It goes through several signatures like a warm knife through butter. It makes using an awl to make the holes for sewing the binding absolute. This is my tool of choice for now on!

Works well for the price
I also have hand grip issues, so that also plays a part in my review. - Handle is smooth and feels sturdy - Top that holds tips in is easy to unscrew - I tested the tips and was able to cut through thin cardboard (e.g. cereal box) and the amazon bubble wrap packaging. Some of the tips took more than one "punch" to cut through the material, but they all cut through cleanly. The Japanese screw punch tips generally cut through with one punch. NOT REALLY A CON, but something to be aware of: - It took a bit more strength to press down on the punch and did not go down as smoothly as the Japanese screw punch. - Changing the tips was a bit difficult. I had trouble removing the tips as I couldn't grip them easily. I was able to remove them by using a paper towel to grip, then twisting and pulling. - The holder for the tips is snug, so you may need to push the tip in firmly. Overall, this is a good screw punch. I've tried other value screw punches and they didn't feel as nice (wasn't as smooth or hefty) or punch as cleanly as this one. If you do have the budget, I would recommend getting the original Japanese screw punch, however, they are much pricier and I would be hesitant to actually bring that out in a travel kit.

Economical and Excellent
There are similar products for over twice as much as I paid for this punch. They all work on the same principle. This is not really a punch but more of a cutter. It rotates and cuts rather than punches the material. My only negative comment is that the cutters should be labeled as to size. Instead, you need to line them up from smallest to largest and then count based on the size you want. Would be nice if they had the size painted or etched on them. Otherwise, it works perfectly.

Its ok for the money
It works really good but a few suggestions I would include a case for the tool and little pieces and maybe some basic instructions. It's relatively self-explanatory but it would be good to include a small tool to push out the pieces that get stuck in the tip. Because unfortunately I did not realize that if you don't do that very often that it gets so stuck that you can't get them out and then the tip is useless. Thankfully it comes with a total of six different tips but they are all different sizes so that's not very helpful. I was able to use a paperclip to get them out going further but unfortunately one tip is no longer useful. And I was only using it for paper not even leather but it is so jam tight I can't get them out. Also the little piece of metal that is closest to the wood handle pops off and on really easily I'm not sure why. It doesn't have threads to screw on or off and it's a tad annoying. For the price it's relatively good I might return it for another that's a little bit better but it did get the job done. It is relatively Sharp and does a good job with the punching of paper I'm not sure how it would work on leather and overall it was pretty satisfying.

not useful for paper due to blocking the cutting nib
it may work for leather but definitely not good for Japanese stab book binding. Punched paper jams in the cutting nib again and again and removing and reinserting the nib is not quick making its use extremely tedious. very disappointing.

Not fit for purpose
The mechanism is quite crude, the cutting blades were misshapen and got blunt after a few uses. Donโt waste your money
