Very well functioning USB-Serial Converter
This is a very well functioning USB-RS232 serial converter. After trying (and failing) using a well-reviewed Keyspan converter that I've had for several years (with TI chip and Keyspan driver), I tried this Gearmo with the FTDI chip and have had excellent results on an Intel Mac Mini with MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) with the stock FTDI driver that comes with MacOS. My application is using a remote serial console communicating with the getty daemon that MacOS also includes. I use RTS/CTS hardware handshaking at 19,200 baud and up, and haven't experienced any issues. The FTDI chip and the Apple driver appear to respect all the termios serial flags and commands used by the appropriate gettytab file entry (I had to modify my gettytab entry for the settings I used -- that takes a little work, but once you understand all the flags it's not bad). Finally, I like having the LEDs for the various serial lines. The Gearmo is a nice little product at a great price.

Plug and Play on MacOS Mojave
This USB-C to serial adaptor worked perfectly on my Mac OS Mojave. No drivers needed. Used the very basic but functional "screen" command from the terminal App and was able to console into various Cisco gear like a champ. Lights for the pins are nice feedback for the serial comms. Excellent tool.

Seems well made
I canโt rate this honestly because the serial device I want to use is dead and would not charge. However the instructions seemed incredibly complex and technical to me. I could not install the software.

Useful device
Because it came fully wired it saves time for the user. Especially that user who doesnโt know how to wire one.

Works GREAT! Works on everything I have tried it on
Works GREAT! Works on everything I have tried it on. Finding a 100% compatible USB/Serial adapter has always been a pain. This does the job awesomely. The signal LEDs are an added bonus!

No installation needed. Plug and play.
Its a plug and okay. I never had any issues regarding the connection when I manage devices. I used putty and secure crt all works perfect. Easily get detected from my laptop ports.

Would not allow hayes smartmodem 2400 to talk with alarm panels
I was able to install the device with windows 10, no problem. Connected device to a hayes smartmodem 2400 and used the alarm software to download into the system. Was able to get the handshake with the alarm panel but disconnects immediately after.

Works great but the USB C side is a little cheap.
This product works as advertised but I wish the Type C connector was more robust. The male metal element, that is inserted into a type C slot, is not well attached the the rest of the housing. It has always been a little bit loose but I needed the converter so I put it into service.
