You could try a pair of tin snips or if you had something to hold it with maybe a hacksaw would work

Do I cut the bar with the lines shorter? I’m confused how to instal

The part I bought was exact fit and was easy to install. 3 screws and that is it. You might have bought the wrong part if it does not fit.
