A: The only warranty expressed or implied, is a 1-year guarantee against defect in workmanship and material. Thiswarranty doe not apply to damages which may result from neglect, accidental or intentional damage, exposureto extremes in temperature and humidity, and alteration or abuse of the product. Wood products ordered 'unfinished' do not come with a warranty.  You must do as the others have suggested oil it often and you will not have any problems. Its starts to crack once it becomes to dry. So have to oil it regularly but not too often that will also mess the board up.

**Q: does the grain run length wise or vertically, assuming the longest sides of the rectangle are horizontal?**
A: The grain runs length wise and yes the longest sides are horizontal

**Q: Is Walnut the best choice because of the look or does it have other desirable qualities for a cutting board?**
A: Any American hardwood is a good choice for a cutting board. They have innate antimicrobial properties,

**Q: Why did you delete the word "antimicrobial" with a black pen?**
A: Antimicrobial is a function of the treatment or oil that is applied after purchase; not a function of the wood itself.
