Maybe it's just that I was looking for travel stories while Sovietstan is more socio-cultural anthropology, written in a very sombre tone. Maybe my expectations of the book were misguided. In any case, I found it quite dull. 😔
Review: One sided story of 5 islamic countries - The author did not mention extremist islamic movement in 5 countries. Islamic movement of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan should be mentioned by the author. Most of the deadly terrorists reside and are trained in these 5 countries.

### ⭐ Terribly dull and boring

My rating and review seems to be completely at odds with most others for this book. Maybe it's just that I was looking for travel stories while Sovietstan is more socio-cultural anthropology, written in a very sombre tone. Maybe my expectations of the book were misguided. In any case, I found it quite dull. 😔

The author did not mention extremist islamic movement in 5 countries. Islamic movement of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan should be mentioned by the author. Most of the deadly terrorists reside and are trained in these 5 countries.
