Does this include power supply? if not, what type of psu should i search for?

It does not include a power supply. You need a Flex ATX power supply. Be aware -- the power supply mounts on the opposite side of where most mainboard 20/24 pin and 4/8 pin 12v connectors are, so you'll need to make sure you pick a power supply with long cables, or purchase an extension kit (like I did) at the same time.

Is there a fan to cool the drive bays? Or room to mount one to blow air across them? I’m concerned the backplane will be in the way.

Flow isn't going to be a problem because of the back plate. It mostly depends how thick your drives are. I can feel airflow when the machine is on.

Does te backplane support SAS?

the backplane does accept sas drives but the connectors on the rear of the backplane are sata so you need a sas to sata breakout cable for your raid card.

Why is there IDE connector in the case?

The IDE is to supply the power to the SATA board. Instead of SATA power cords go to 8 SATA hot swap HDD case.
