He doesn’t even have a shrine, not to mention worshippers! Noragami is light-hearted, dark, moody, insightful, action packed, cute, angsty and suspenseful all at the same time! It's got a great story (as long as the mangaka keeps it up) and the MOST incredible artwork I've seen! I love realistically drawn manga, and this mangaka has human (and diety) anatomy down perfectly! They must have the best models, because the figures are perfectly proportioned, credible and HOT! The men look male, but not unrealistically buff and the females look female without being too cutesy and looking like chibis. Seriously, for the artwork alone I would buy this manga, but it's way more than just art. This is an awesome series that I hope keeps on as strong as it started all the way until it is finished. The way the relationships between the gods and their shinki (regalia) are portrayed allows for an entirely different and far more complex dynamic than is usually seen. Yato, as gods usually are, is a character of contradictions and resistant to change despite truly wanting to. Hyiori is surprisingly emotionally level headed for how many high school girls are portrayed, but weirdly accepting of a lot of things. Perhaps later in the story there is a reason for that as it seems many things have many meanings behind them in this series. I intend to watch the anime next. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gorgeous artwork and a great story *by A***Y on March 24, 2015* Beautiful artwork, well-drawn characters, lots of humor, and a unique take on the underdog in a shounen manga, Noragami's first volume is fantastic. Yato is a good-for-nothing god trying to get followers so that he can have his own shrine. Hiyori is a girl who should have died when she was hit by a bus. Instead, she's become a living ayakashi, walking the land between two worlds while Yato figures out a way to help her. Kodansha's translation not only provides some great dialogue, but also takes the time to explain (in a well-written section at the end) some of the subtleties that an English translation doesn't convey.
