Would you recommend (or recommend against) this bag as an airplane carry on for a helmet and electronics? It would go in the overhead. Thanks!

Hi Greg, in normal conditions this backpack does perfectly fit for the size to take inside an airplane, but when totally expanden and completely filled up to the maximum, it could be a bit oversize for airplane, specially if you are carrying a helmet inside.
