Very easy to learn to play. I would compare it to a couple other games I've played like race for the galaxy, or sushi go. You play your cards from your hand into a tableau in front of you where they stay (or can be stolen) Your hand is very dynamic and volitile, whereas the cards that you play and keep (for the most part!) count towards your final score at the end. The cards you play in front of you have various value points to them, and interact with each other to create combo point values. There is some interaction between players, but often the source of anxiety and conflict comes from the ages deck not other players (tho this is possible!). It feels like you're trying to get ahead of your opponents by a lot of luck and some strategy more than direct conflict. Cards are very nice, tho personally I would have liked to see better artwork. Yes the doomlings are cute, but it feels more like they created the artwork to be marketable on t-shirts and stuffed doomlings than for interest in game play. I ordered a couple expansions (yes I thought the game was good enough to get them!) and I'm hoping for a little more variety and artwork from the expansions.

Party games should be easy to pick up and play. Don't get me wrong- there's a place for high-skill card games, but there's also something special about being able to round up a group of friends and jump right into chaos. Doomlings gets this right. The goal is simple: score the most points. Each card (aka trait) has a point value, and most have effects or actions that allow you to score points in other ways, such as having a certain number of blue traits, or stealing your friend's Kidney (yes that's a thing). After everyone makes a move, a new age passes. When you hit three catastrophes, the world ends and you tally your scores. The genius lies in its simplicity. Everything you need is written right on the cards, and you can learn how to play in a matter of minutes. There is a ton of hidden strategy in how you can chain cards together to sabotage your opponents or maximize your own scoring. And when you start to get comfortable, there are several expansions for sale that add new ways to play. But in true party fashion, there's plenty of surprises depending on what cards you draw and what the next age tells you to do, which keeps the game from being dominated by skill gaps. We've had games when the newcomer wins on their first try, and games when our big-brain friend absolutely smokes us! What really makes the game stand out, though, is how much character it has. Each card has its own cute creation and a light-hearted caption. It's clear that the creators put alot of love into this game, and if you get the expansions, you'll appreciate how the art style evolves to fit themes like dinosaurs and mythical beings. Simply put- you need to play this. I've made over 200 custom cards for my collection, so I can confidently say that Doomlings is worth your time!

Cute game, fun and easy to play

This game is amazing and we cannot stop playing it! It has become a nightly routine for our house of 5 people ages 25-45. It is so replayable because there are so many different cards that every time is so different. We are already wanting expansion packs.

This is one of my favorite quick and easy games to play. It’s family friendly, very easy to understand, and can go as quickly or as long as you want it to honestly. It just depends on how long each player takes to make a decision. It’s super cute though and always a crowd pleaser. The cards are good quality, but they should get sleeved or they will bend and tear.

This is such a fun game. The first two times we played it was a little confusing but once you get the game and understand it fully it’s really fun. Doesn’t matter if it’s just two players or more.

This game is a ton of fun we’ve played it with 4-6 players and it’s different each time.

Meine Frau und ich haben es ursprünglich nur gekauft, weil uns die animierten Illustrationen so gut gefallen haben. Nach einem Monat im Regal haben wir es dann ausprobiert – und waren sofort begeistert! Einige Wochen lang haben wir es fast jeden Abend gespielt, bis wir uns schließlich auch die Erweiterung geholt haben. Danach haben wir es mit Familie und Freunden gespielt – und alle wollten, dass wir das Spiel jedes Mal wieder mitbringen. Das Spielprinzip ist einzigartig, clever durchdacht und sorgt für jede Menge Spaß in der Runde. Wir können Doomlings (Classic Edition) absolut empfehlen.

My 13 yo had a friend over and we pulled out the game... we had so much fun and so much chatter that my 16 yo actually left his computer to come play with us! Once you get familiar with all the cards, it's quite a riot with just enough sarcastic nihilism to keep your teens interested.
