Review: Incredible watch! Does it All! I can't say enough about it! - This is my third Amazfit watch. I started with the Bip 3, moved up to the original GTR (Great looking watch with great features - was my favorite!). I hesitated to go for the GTR 2 or 3 simply because the GTR was such a great watch - super good battery life, accurate readings, etc. But when the GTR 4 came out, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I've been so pleased with this watch. It's such a step up from my other watches. I love how I can customize my swipe left or right (with a continuous loop, no less) to have my favorite functions - Top widgets, steps, heart rate, Blood O2, music, compass (with altimeter and barometer as well), weather, and the shortcut cards that allow me to add even more functionality at my wrist (Calendar, upcoming alarm, countdown, stopwatch, one-tap measuring, sleep, PAI). I don't use Alexa, but I have used the offline voice control, which works pretty well; but with all the apps right there, I prefer to swipe. I love the membership card feature (bar codes from cards for grocery stores, pharmacy, Red Cross, etc.) and I always feel very "techy" when I scan myself in at the platelet center or the self-checkout. The weather app is accurate with a five-day forecast, and I love the sun and moon feature (helpful for hiking to know the sunrise and sunset times, and to know if I'll have any moonlight at night). The phone app is awesome. It's always nice to take phone calls from my bride when I'm at work or hiking without having to take out my phone. The sound on my end is great and she says the microphone sounds better than my phone! I can use the number pad or my contact list to make calls as well. I also love being able to respond to texts (I get the full message, by the way, not just a line or two) with one of 10 pre-set responses, or even emojis. It's more than a novelty and I really enjoy being able to use it. The workouts are more than I will ever use. Mostly I use walking, climbing (hiking), biking, strength training, indoor biking, and a few others. I wish they had some workouts for when I'm out in the yard raking leaves or chopping wood, but I find other exercises that serve as equivalents. I love all the information the app gives me about workout duration, calories burned recovery time, etc., as well as the little "Hoorays!" for achieving goals, and the suggestions, reminders, and coaching it gives as well. As far as the heart rate, blood 02, and steps, I find those to be very accurate (My vitals are checked twice a month when I give platelets.), so it gives me an good overall picture of my health. The sleep tracking is better than before. My other watches would only measure sleep at night, but since I work nights and sleep during the day, it wasn't as helpful. The GTR 4 measures "naps" so I'm getting a more accurate picture of my sleep. And on the weekends when I switch to sleeping at night, the readings give me a very good general sense of my sleep patterns, and I'm happy with that. What more can I say? There's a calculator, flashlight (decent for what it is), stopwatch, alarms, find my phone, camera remote, stress readings, etc. I love the one-tap measuring. I just hit that button and in 45 seconds get a good overall picture of my health. The music player app works well (a remote control for your phone). I haven't used the music download feature, because I would rather save the memory (lots of memory, by the way) for map data, and I always have my phone with me, so having music on the watch would be redundant for me; but it's a great feature nonetheless. I've also downloaded a bunch of apps from their proprietary app store - games, tip calculators, unit converters, and even navigation apps. No, I don't have detailed topo maps for the watch for hiking, but it does give me some basic functionality in that regard. My hiking, biking, and walking workouts are sent to the app and displayed on my phone. There are a ton of great watch faces, many of which can be customized, all ranging from traditional analog to techy digital styles. Battery life is pretty decent. Even with frequent workouts using GPS, I average about two weeks before I have to charge the watch. In fact, I often forget about it until the 10 percent reminder comes on. The watch is stylish and good-looking, but still tough, well-made, and pretty much perfect for my needs. The buttons and touch screen are very responsive (the main button also rotates to move through the app drawer), the vibration is enough to wake me up from sleeping, I don't go crazy with outdoor workouts, so this is right for my needs. I know Amazfit makes more rugged watches for real adventurers, but they don't have all the features the GTR 4 has, so I'm happy I chose this watch. The Zepp app has gotten even better and has so much information and functionality. I found a lot of helpful videos online to help me with navigating the app; but, in general, I picked up on it pretty quickly, and have used it to customize the watch so it works well for me. Overall, I'm so happy I purchased this watch. Normally, I don't gush this much over a product, but I'm just so please with it. Amazfit makes really good watches that work well, last, and provide so much for the price point (way more, in fact). I highly recommend this product and Amazfit in general. I hope this review has been helpful.
Review: Very full-featured, works amazingly well, stunning battery life - I have been exceptionally impressed with this watch. All the advertised features work as promised (rare!) and the app is easy to use with almost all the data collected, processed, and displayed in very thoughtful and intuitive ways. And it collects so much useful data - far more than most fitness trackers. Battery life is unreal - I collect every available metric every 5 minutes 24 hours a day, consult it dozens a times each day, have the screen on full-time during all workouts, and it still lasts a week+ between charges. I scanned all my grocery-store, gym, etc. membership cards into the app and now I don't have to carry any of them with me - they are all on my wrist. It has made a huge difference in my fitness efforts due to the motivation that comes from being able to precisely track what you accomplish. There are some small issues that I would like to see improved: The app features annoying adds for add-on services (like more detailed sleep analysis) that require subscriptions. You can't turn them off either - they just come right back. It also includes an app store where you can buy watch faces and apps for a few dollars each. This is frustrating because almost all of them are available to download free from miwatchfaces(dot)com - they are reselling other people's free work and charging for it. My only other gripe is that the only Heart Rate Variability measurement function is a metric called "stress" with an arbitrary number that is provided after every measurement. This makes it difficult to interpret for one of the most useful ways of using HRV which is identifying when you are coming down sick a few days before you actually get symptoms. Also, why does that app consume so much background data??? But don't get me wrong, there are very few purchases I have made this year that have been as positively impactful and valuable. This is a great watch.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When you delete an face watch how do you reset the storage space to see the actual storage capacity?**
A: There is a App you can download in the smartphone app that measures storage space

**Q: Are the sensors for blood oxygen etc. upgraded in this watch from the previous version?**
A: Yes, The Amazfit GTR 4 debuts the new BioTrackerTM 4.0 PPG biometric sensor. Enhanced to 2LED, the sensor collects 33% more data and is more accurate than the previous generation, thanks to the ultra-thin 0.4mm glass base.
This sensor, combined with the watch's upgraded heart rate tracking algorithm, greatly reduces potential signal interference caused by arm movement during exercise, for heart rate tracking that almost reaches the level of heart rate belts.

**Q: Can you reply to messages and phone calls?**
A: This answer applies to the new Gtr 4 MINI. I don't know how they can have reviews and answers from months ago for a watch version that just came out March, 2023. This GTR 4 Mini is brand new so MY answer applies to this new version. You can also go into the Zepp app and add or delete messages. I've already done that since most of the prewritten messages didn't apply to my situations.

**Q: The gtr 3 has a compass, is there one in the gtr 4?**
A: Yes the GTR 4 also has a compass

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fitness watch
*by J***M on August 10, 2024*

If you're looking for a great-looking, nice-feeling watch for tracking your workouts, this is a great choice. The screen is large, bright, and beautiful. The body has a sturdy feel and looks classy. There are some beautiful standard watch faces. And the battery life is incredible. I disabled always-on display, but had tilt to wake and other battery-draining features enabled (e.g. automatic sleep and workout tracking), and it still only dropped from 100% to 19% after 10 days. Heart rate tracking seemed fairly accurate compared to other trackers such as the Google Pixel watch. Sleep tracking did a good job of detecting start/end of sleep sessions, but didn't seem as accurate as Fitbit sleep tracking with regard to sleep stages (not as sensitive). I loved the fitness tracking software on the watch and app. For treadmill running, it seemed to "learn" the more I used it. The first time, its estimate of distance was a fair bit off but easily allowed me to change it. The second time, it was closer. The third time, it was spot on. Not sure if it has some AI algorithm for detecting/learning stride lengths, but that seemed pretty cool. Also, for tracking strength training sessions, it allows you to easily track sets/reps/weights and does a pretty good job of detecing what exercises you're doing (bent over row, deadlifts, bicep curls, etc.). For those it can't detect or gets wrong, you can easily change/select it in the phone app afterward. Where the watch fell short was in the tight integration with my Android phone. Most apps seemed to require a companion app on the phone to operate, and there just didn't seem to be many apps available. In the end, I went with the Google Pixel watch, but the GTR 4 was a great competitor and would be an excellent choice if only concerned with fitness tracking.
