This attacks the larvae so interrupting the breeding cycle. So not an immediate solution. Problem is the effectiveness won't be noticed until later in the year as female tiger mosquitos (biting) live for up to a month, so it needs a few generations to be disrupted before any number drop in numbers are experienced. And eggs can over-winter on dry surfaces too. So consistent treatments with multiple methods is required. It also needs your neighbours to be on board with managing standing water. If your neighbours have water, be it a small puddle in a pot tray or a swimming pool, then you will still suffer. Also use BTi in conjunction with other types of trap or insecticides to reduce number of adults. Scatter these where water can potentially puddle. So they become effectively when it rains or gets wet. Replenish every few months. It's as simple as that.
