According to mythology mankind used to live in The Tranquiline Halls. Heaven. But then the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms. And the Voidbringers followed ... They came against man ten thousand times. To help them cope, the Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, known as Shardblades. Led by ten angelic Heralds and ten orders of knights known as Radiants, mankind finally won. Or so the legends say. Today, the only remnants of those supposed battles are the Shardblades, the possession of which makes a man nearly invincible on the battlefield. The entire world is at war with itself - and has been for centuries since the Radiants turned against mankind. Kings strive to win more Shardblades, each secretly wishing to be the one who will finally unite all of mankind under a single throne. On a world scoured down to the rock by terrifying hurricanes that blow through every few days is a young spearman, forced into the army of a Shardbearer, led to war against an enemy he doesn't understand and doesn't really want to fight. What happened deep in mankind's past? Why did the Radiants turn against mankind, and what happened to the magic they used to wield? Review: Okay - Okay Review: Great present! - As I said in my review of Part 1, this was a great gift for someone who might be intimidated by the undertaking the original binding can be.

Great Read, well developed world, plot, characters. Once you get passed the first few chapters, it is a real page turner.

Still not the end of the story
This book has a title "the way of Kings Part II". It is really just the 2nd half of part I. The original edition of this was very long. They split that original edition into 2 parts. The final book of this series (which should now be called part III) has not been written yet. I bought the book on the assumption it was the conclusion of the Way of kings, but it is not.

Wonderful book, cool cover, bad description.
Please take a moment and turn your attention to the tiny text on the bottom of the cover- this is only half the book. Half of an excellent book (no shade on Brando Sando), but half the book, which is not specified in the listing title. I love the cover, but poorly advertised and more expensive than the full book I purchased to replace this.

THIS IS NOT THE SECOND BOOK IN THE SERIES
After really enjoying THE WAY OF KINGS, THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE I was interested in reading the second book. I looked all over and found this one. Part Two. I ASSumed it was the natural progression from book one. Wrong. It is a reprint of the first book in smaller paperback form. Im not sure why the author and publisher thought this was necessary unless it was to make more sales on the same pages I already owned in the first book. Very annoying and makes me not trust future issue from either of them.
