It is actually only slightly larger than a deck of cards or a couple packs of cigarettes. Range is good and can see through doorways and other opening in a line-of-site way. If you can see the sensor, it can see you. Small animal feature prevents trigging from cats, small dogs, birds in cages, etc. Internal switch lets you turn on or off a red signal lamp which indicates when object motion is seen. This lets you see when triggering happens during installation, but save battery life and prevent sensor from being so obvious in a dark room.3M tape used is not as thick or sticky as some I have used elsewhere, and may not stick to dirty or greasy walls. Also the sticky tape may fail on surfaces that may have condensation, like a basement wall, and walls subject to temperature changes. You might want to permanently install these units with the supplied screws once you are assured you have a working location, or get some really aggressive double-sided tape for installation.Battery installation is a bit awkward, with a small area on case you have to push in while lifting the cover off. This takes me two hands, and at the recommended installation heights, I need a step stool or similar device to get me up where I can open and close the cover.Others have reported that battery failure will cause the alarm to trigger on last time before failing all together. If you have both window and door sensors, and your motion sensors overlap in coverage to some extent, it is unlikely that a person coming in would trigger only a single motion sensor or door or window sensor. So if you think about the installation, and require an intruder to trigger two or more sensors, you have a bit of a safety buffer in the design. You should do the same thing to protect the control unit or 'brain'. Place it in a hard-to-get-at place where an intruder would have to look for it, and even if he/she knew where it was, he would trigger additional sensors as he or she approached the control unit. Use an external keypad if you really want one near the door, for example, so the intruder would have to go past multiple sensors to disable the control unit.You should replace batteries on a regular schedule -- like you would smoke detector batteries. The system requires batteries to work, and it would be ashamed to put all the effort and cost into an alarm system, and then let it become ineffective because you never replaced the batteries.I followed the suggestions on installation and have had no false triggers with three motion sensors in over two months. I also have tested the system (with alarm horns off) many times and get fast cell phone text messages each and every time -- even when I try to sneak around and not set the unit off.Battery life is unknown, and batteries are not available all places. They may be ordered through Amazon, or purchased at some larger battery departments or at specialty battery stores. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very useful add on *by T***H on Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2016* This is a great system. I bought this extra sensor so I could put it in a hallway that had no coverage. The sensors work great and was simple to pair just reading the instructions.Just one thing to note that may be helpful for buyers, if the sensor is in an area that sees a lot of movement it is going to use batteries much quicker than a sensor that is in a low traffic area. I would figure on replacing the batteries twice a year to be safe and avoid those middle of the night false alarms. You can let the batteries go dead if you want and it wont effect the rest of the system. You should also check the base unit for low battery alerts occasionally. I have my base unit in a cupboard and rarely check it so if a sensor battery dies it might die while disarmed and then you won't know its bad. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works perfectly! *by B***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2016* I needed a 4th motion sensor for my house as 3 came with the GS08 system I purchased. It works perfectly. Installation per instructions was easy. I use them as 'backup' sensors in case a bad guy uses a magnet to fool my door and window sensors.Of note is that I opted to change the default switch setting so the internal red LED does not flash when motion detected. Otherwise, normal movement in any of the monitored rooms would flash even if the system is disarmed.
